Cross or X in Sky Marks the Spot on way to Shot Show 2026

Yesterday, January 18, this correspondent was driving on the way to Las Vegas for the Shot Show, 2026. In Nevada, on highway 95, contrails showed a remarkable cross or X in the sky. The cross was very close to the section of Highway 95 dedicated to US veterans from WWII on up. 

This correspondent served in the Cold War, so it was nice to see the sign. 

I will be at the Shot Show this week, so blog articles may be a little spotty. 

Today will be Industry Day at the Range.  It appears the weather will be cool, with relatively mild temperatures.

Interesting contrails. Very nice crossing contrails. Often seen near Yuma with the Marine Corps Air Station. Not so often in Nevada on the south part of Highway 95.

IIRC, 'Dingy Harry' Reid claimed Searchlight, NV as his hometown. According to a federal mineral examiner I spoke with, Searchlight is also "the mining claim 'scam' capitol of the world" (which, along with other sleazy associations, might explain how Reid got so rich on a bureaucrats salary). But I still love that part of the country!

Contrails disappear shortly after the aircraft creates them. They're simply ice particles which turn to water and then evaporating into vapor disappearing completely.

If a 'contrail' doesn't disappear shortly after it's creation and instead grows and expands it is something else entirely, commonly called a chemtrail.

The temperature and humidity of the air affects how long contrails last. When air is dry, contrails last just seconds or minutes. But when the air is humid, as was the case here, contrails can be long-lived and spread outward until they become difficult to distinguish from naturally occurring cirrus clouds. Satellites have observed clusters of contrails lasting as long as 14 hours, though most remain visible for four to six hours.

Then prove to me that contrails don't disappear shortly aftert their creation...and not by using a NASA website as they're proven liars as their own images show.

The JMO, YMMV was in regards to the expanding "chemtrail" comment, not regarding the actual functioning of actual contrails.
