With sufficient wages, many unemployed Americans will do the work. Or make the work a requirement for public assistance.
If you refuse to pay enough, then the work wasn’t important enough and just didn’t need to be done. If the work has to be done, it will be done.
How can you count them if the are undocumented? Did he pull a number out of his azz
Why can’t that state get legal migrant pickers?
And legal citizens aren’t doing any work????
“...Our state will be destroyed economically if suddenly we decide anybody undocumented is going home...”
He does not care about state economics. He only cares about the loss of power if those undocumented democrat voters were all deported. It’s ALL about power. Nothing else matters to a democRat. /spit
I still blame the employers, who are addicted to cheap labor. I’ve heard all the reasons why.
They could but it takes effort and following the laws.
Construction has lots of illegals in residential and light commercial.
The decade I spent in AZ showed me lots of legallly permitted agricultural workers.
BUT WHO WILL PICK THE CROPS?
He admits he wants slave labor
Most of the farms I know hire legal temp aliens because the young have fled to the cities and larger towns.
Then again, Wisconsin hire do noting school super whose first thought on assuming office was to rule by decree.
Trusting anything out of his mouth to be true is foolish.
Not so much “admits” as claims.
Some of the claim may be true.
Spaghetti and snowballs?
Yep. They’ve made dairy farm work ugly and dirty because they’ve have the modern version of slave labor.
But plenty of young people would love to work on wholesome, natural farms. We just need a massive transition. And probably only something like taking away the illegals will get us there.
WI’s biggest ag biz is in dairy, which has the ultimate 24/7/365 schedule.
Trump’s being hearing the same from pretty all of agriculture since he’s entered politics, which is a big reason he hasn’t gone after them.
The question now is what to do. CLEARLY Americans won’t do the work, at least as long as they have access to resources (welfare, parents, white liberal women, etc.), so maybe a well-structured GUEST WORKER program, where they do come here legally, but their families stay home, and they leave after a certain amount of time (no more than 5 years).
The trick in that kind of biz is that it is hard to compete, given the regulated prices, unless you cut corners along with the rest of your industry.
We owe it to them to put a stop to it all.
The majority of the work is done by people that are undocumented.
Your doing it wrong your taking work away from Americans.
Yep, people will do farm work just not for a dollar an hour.
“Our state will be destroyed economically if suddenly we decide anybody undocumented is going home”
So do it gradually? Ha ha. Should have thought of that anyway. Cost-shifting, grift, and failure to adhere to your oath of office. Your constituents are American citizens, not foreign nationals, no matter how many kickbacks you receive.
They aren’t “undocumented”. They have all sorts of documents. They just aren’t in English. It’s a euphemistic term to try and soften the reality, making it sound like they simply lost their wallet or something like that.
