What To Know
-Dave Chappelle responded strongly to Bill Maher’s criticism of his comments about free speech at a Saudi comedy festival in his new Netflix special.
-Chappelle clarified that his remarks about freer speech in Saudi Arabia were made on stage and not intended for publication, referencing his own experiences with backlash in the U.S. over transgender jokes.
-Bill Maher had publicly disputed Chappelle’s claim about free speech in Saudi Arabia, prompting Chappelle’s pointed remarks in his stand-up special. Dave Chappelle just sent a fiery message to Bill Maher after the late-night host slammed comments he made about free speech at a Saudi comedy festival.
On Friday, December 19, the comedian’s stand-up special, Dave Chappelle: The Unstoppable, dropped on Netflix. And in it, Chappelle, 52, issued a direct response to the Real Time With Bill Maher host, 69, calling him out in October.
“You know, and Bill Maher, the famous comedian,” he said at one point. “I’ve known Bill since I was like 18, 19 years old, and I’ve never said this publicly, but f*** that guy.”
Chappelle added, “I’m so ******* tired of his little smug cracker-a** commentary.”
On the October 3 episode of Real Time, Maher spoke with guest Louis C.K. about the Riyadh Comedy Festival held from late September through early October. “Dave Chappelle…was in the press today saying that you can speak more freely over here than in America,” Maher said. “It is not true.”
Louis C.K., who also performed at the festival, replied, “I don’t know if that’s true.” To that, Maher insisted, “Oh, it’s not true,” before quipping that Chappelle should try out a joke about Muhammad and see how it goes.
In his Netflix special, Chappelle clarified of free speech comment, saying, “I didn’t tell them to put this in the paper. I just said it on stage.” He also told the audience, “Don’t forget what I just went through.”
Chappelle continued, “Two years ago, I almost got canceled right here in the United States for transgender jokes. But I gotta tell you something: Transgender jokes went over very well in Saudi Arabia.”
Although Real Time With Bill Maher is currently on a holiday hiatus, new episodes kick off on Friday, January 23.
He so did not almost get canceled. A few trannies bleated about it and he made more tranny jokes in his next special. Chapelle’s a muzzie. They don’t like Maher’s kind.
“Chappelle should try out a joke about Muhammad and see how it goes.”
Good point. However, it would not go over so well in Dearborn Michigan either.
‘Chappelle continued, “Two years ago, I almost got canceled right here in the United States for transgender jokes. But I gotta tell you something: Transgender jokes went over very well in Saudi Arabia.”’
That could be true too.
Islam and the left are joined at the hip and they are both intolerant. There’s no need to argue about which is worse. They are both Democrat and are probably both supported by Maher and Chappelle. The dust-up is not real.
Try telling jokes about Israel or Zionistas in the US.
The cancellation would be immediate.
Both sides have their sacred cows. Americas is plain for all to see. LGPFU++ are not fair game, neither are Jews or their nation.

Chappelle is hilariously funny but he’s dead wrong on this. I dare him to make jokes about Muhammed in a Muslim country! He’ll be dead within a few months if he even gets out of that country alive.
Chappelle is a Muslim.
Ok Adolph, delusional Adolph.
What country do you live in, because here in the United States it's the opposite. We had a massive anti-Jewish uprising on campuses last summer, and it was considered no big deal. For example, on UCLA's campus, they had guards posted that wouldn't let Jews on campus. Deans of schools admitted publicly they didn't like Jews.
Kamala Harris deliberately reduced her chances of winning the presidential election, because she wouldn't pick a popular governor from a state she needed, because he is Jewish. (I'm not saying she is against Jews, but a huge chunk of her base will not tolerate Jews.)
Even a huge chunk of conservatives will agree to totally give a pass to leftists, if it means they have a chance to "get the Jews."
People make Jewish jokes all the time, but Muslim is off limits.
Try telling it here...same result. South Park guys did an episode once and made fun of every religion except Islam. They had a previous episode canceled that made fun of Muhammad. So they skewered every other one and had a giant blackout for Muhammad.
Point being you can make fun of every religion but Islam.
Chappelle used to be funny before he became a devout Muslim.
See Post 4
Gee, Seinfeld, CK Louis, Mel Brooks, Norm Macdonald, Joan Rivers, Larry David, Benny Hill and the king of them all, Don Rickles, told countless jew jokes.
You are mixing up the f*ckwads from ADL and other leftwing advocacy groups with normal humans that like ethnic humor
“Try telling jokes about Israel or Zionistas in the US.”
Did you hear about the time a Rabbi, a Catholic Priest, and Franklin Graham walked into a bar and the bartender asked, “What’s this a joke?”
So long as the jokes are actually sort of funny it’s OK.
That's a very big assumption.
The more likely scenario was that Governor Shapiro wouldn't hitch his wagon to such a failure of a candidate as Kamala Harris. His handlers conferred with her handlers and there was no offer. No one would label her as anti-semitic since she's married to Doug Emhoff, and Governor Shapiro doesn't have to look "racist" and "misogynistic" sandbagging his own campaign. (No candidate would say "no" since the handlers would never let the offer be extended without already knowing the candidate would say yes).
Better to get retarded "Tampon Tim" Waltz to take the dive.
She never offered him, it came out. She knew it would create riots in her own base. Did you pay attemntion to the summer of 2024 at all? Progressives hate Jews and aren’t shy about it. Remember, AOC was kicked out of the Democrat Socialists of America, because she wasn’t anti-Jewish enough.
You are right to a degree, he can still be funny but he has taken the wrong side on some important things. When he gets it wrong he goes big.
Who do you think you're fooling? You're a Zeeper that supports a country that is epicenter of neo-Nazism in the world.
It’s a stage and they’re all laughing behind the curtain.
Yeah, the Saudi’s LOVE transgender jokes. Then they throw them off a building. What a stupid argument. They should both get real jobs.
