On November 20, 2025, a bit before 2 p.m., a group of elementary school children was attacked by a grizzly bear, not far from their school. At least two adult men were with the children. It appears they and two others, including at least one child, were severely injured during the attack. At least one of the men is reported to have been severely injured while fighting the bear and protecting the children. Two of the victims were listed in critical condition, two others were listed as serious, and seven others were treated at the scene with less serious injuries.
Emergency Health Services spokesman Brian Twaites said in a statement that the attack happened on a trail near Highway 20, and two ambulances and a community paramedic responded.
“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to four patients and transported them to hospital. Two patients were in critical condition and two were in serious condition,” he said.

But women would choose the bear huh?
It is a disconnect from reality. Women have been programmed to believe bears are not as dangerous to women as men are.
Most women who live near to bears know different.

Not a bad idea, but it is Canada.
They don’t want the subjects to have handguns.
I suspect the residents of Bella Coola will decide to solve the problem themselves.
The natives in the area helped pass the law to close the bear season.
I do not know how much help they well be.

I live just north of YNPark and our ground is not yet frozen — 50 F yesterday before the storm came in and now it’s 23 and we have snow...
I have been concerned about bears for days....I know the midwest has lots of snow and cold but our weather has been unusually warm.
I can understand a hungry, sleepy, grizzly awaking for a week from hibernation doing this...
A month ago it was cold and snow was being ‘made’ at the cross-country skiing park in town...then we have had an unusual warm spell and everything melted — perhaps BC is having similar weather?
Bear Spray seemed effective...
On the children.

Totalitarian Marxist overlords.
Spit!
I have a Taurus 9mm. Love it
Were the kids taunting Elisha for his baldness?
Same species of bear. Ursus Arctos.
Nice stainless handguns. The easiest finish to maintain.
I suspect the residents of Bella Coola will decide to solve the problem themselves.
Yep Bow and arrows and spears citizens first huh.
Those long barrels won’t help if you’re in a hurry.
Sure they will, as long as you aren’t the slowest one in the pack.
I agree.
The one Taurus I owned (a .380) was a profound disappointment, to say the least.
Some people have no taste. ;-D
