Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) admitted during a recent interview that she doesn’t believe her party should be chomping at the bit to impeach President Donald Trump in the next two years.
Pelosi, who presided over the House through two impeachments during Trump’s first term, argued that in 2019 and 2020, the Democrats had a solid reason for moving ahead with impeachment — and that there was no obvious reason to impeach him based on his actions in his second term.
Pelosi delivered her assessment during an appearance on the USA Today podcast “The Excerpt” with Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page, and Page asked whether she would be behind a third impeachment effort if Democrats were to regain control of the House after the 2026 midterm elections.
“Just to make sure I understand you, [impeachment] should not be the agenda of Democrats for this last two years,” Page prompted the California lawmaker.
Pelosi, who just recently announced that she will not seek reelection in 2026, confirmed Page’s suspicions.
“No, I mean unless he — if he crosses the border again. But that’s not an incidental thing you say — ‘We’re going to do that.’ No, there has to be cause,” Pelosi said. “There has to be reason.”
“We had review. This was a very serious historic thing,” Pelosi continued. “And our founders knew that there could be a rogue president. And that’s why they put impeachment in the Constitution.”
Pelosi went on to take potshots at Senate Republicans, blaming them for the fact that neither of Trump’s impeachments had been able to get across the finish line to conviction in the Senate — or removal from office, which appeared to be the end goal.
“[The founders] didn’t know there’d be a rogue president at the same time a rogue Senate that didn’t have the courage to do the right thing. It was bipartisan in the Senate, but it wasn’t enough,” she complained.
She musta said it in the morning before her first triple bloody Mary.
If the Dems take the House in 2026, they’ll go all on numerous impeachments and will do all sorts of nasty things to hurt this county and halt the MAGA agenda.
Maybe Pelosi has a fear what Trump did to the BBC $$$$$$$$$$$$

Say what you will about Pelosi, she has good political instincts. She didn’t get to and stay so long in the influential position she was by being a political dummy. She may be evil, but she’s not stupid, at least when it comes to her chosen field of expertise.
Her reasons are bogus but her stance makes perfect sense. Anything they try only rallies Trump’s base. That is the real reason. That and it makes the Democrats look like they’re just playing politics and it hasn’t worked and it won’t work. But if Trump’s popularity drops to George Bush levels they will impeach.

Trump only got his second term because of the Impeachment, he used it to his advantage.

Now. She knows Trumps holds a lot more cards now than he did in 2018 particularly about J6. She’s trying to save her own skin.

Can’t disagree. However, the vile, demonic Botoxian is, and was, a very useful tool of its hellish Big Daddy. IT has, and had, all the tools, knowledge and abilities of its master at its fingertips to do the vile bidding as directed.
I, for one, would NOT want to be in this evil creature’s shoes come Judgement Day.

Would largely concur, and add in the fact that Trump has three years to go in charge of the Executive regardless of what happens in the mid-terms. President Trump can put many of these rats in prison in the time he has left, the dried-up pruneface commie from SF is right.
Passionately hates Trump of course, but not at the hysterical ninny level prevailing among Democrats born after that Pearl Harbor incident. { smirk }
Hindsight speaks....
It’s a throwaway remark - she will not be in office when that issue may come up. Their campaign consultants probably told them to dress up in a conciliatory fashion, at least until January 2027.
This is a hint of the leadership both Minority Leaders should now be offering to the Dem Party. They are for the most part, lacking credible and clear policy guidelines.
Schumer and Hakeem appear disengaged with who’s doing what.
The hard-line Progressive members are providing the boldest push of agenda for the present.
