There were no “right-wing tropes” in the 1930’s. Almost all the world had swung over to some place on the left wing, from the Fascism of of Italy and FDR’s New Deal, to the “kinder and gentler” form of socialism known as “National Socialism” as practiced in the Third Reich, to the “International Socialism” of the Soviet Union and many of the leading universities in the United States and Great Britain.

FDR was known to brag that “Some of my best friends are Communists.” Only the outbreak of the Second World War, and a complete rejection of groupthink in the years following the shaky peace after the defeat of Nazi Germany, shifted the US back to a more capitalistic economy. And even that had to be hampered by threats of outbreak of wars with the Soviet Empire for years after.

Gestapo like internal spy agencies surveilling and spying on political opponents and political parties that the present regime doesn’t like. EU laws trying to impose censorship on American platforms to the point of suppressing freedom of speech in America while stifling the freedom of speech in Europe. America is the lone western country free of this totalitarian control over its people. The EU is the 21st century Empire of Evil and the people of Europe need to wake up to this fact.
