Is Trump’s stark new security strategy the end of the liberal world order? Europeans will need convincing
CBC News ^ | Dec 10, 2025 | Chris Brown

Posted on 12/10/2025 5:43:23 PM PST by MinorityRepublican

U.S. President Donald Trump’s new national security strategy appears to blow up some of the key principles behind 80 years of European collective defence, challenging the foundation of the continent’s relationship with the country.

But on whether the White House will — or even can — follow through on many of its more radical or transformative demands, many European capitals will likely need more convincing.

In a blistering attack, Trump’s new policy portrays Europe’s governments as weak and ineffective. Migration has destroyed the continent’s self-confidence, it claims, accusing the European Union of contributing to a loss of national sovereignty, weakened political freedoms and the diminished effectiveness of individual nation states.

Not a word is mentioned of Russia being an adversary — or the instigator of a horrific, ongoing war against its neighbour Ukraine.

The document does not say the U.S. core interest should be the defeat of Russia and the return of Ukraine’s territories, but rather that it should seek to restore “strategic stability" with Russia.

In other places, Trump’s strategy reads more as a manifesto for fostering the Make America Great Again movement in Europe and advancing policies of far-right parties such as Germany’s AfD — particularly with regards to the negative impacts of immigration — than it does a traditional blueprint for preserving the shared values of deeply connected allies.

Indeed, it appears to invert the ally-adversary dynamic by saying it's Europe where the United States should be pushing hard, “cultivating resistance” to its current trajectory, rather than against Russia.

Seismic change

While the document commits the United States to NATO, it appears to view American responsibility for defending Europe as conditional and limited — a seismic change.

“The days of the United States propping up the entire world order like Atlas are over,” it states.

NATO and all security packs are basically not worth the paper they are written on.

Because apparently because Russia has nukes (according to the Paid Putin butt kissers here) nothing can be done if they invade someone. Doesn’t matter if it’s Ukraine or some other country to them, they say we can’t get involved. So that makes NATO useless. And now Russia can take over the entire world by simply threatening to use their nukes, since that alone is enough to keep us from stopping them.

Sounds pretty good. Right now, the people who actually PAY ATTENTION to what’s going on (i.e, not the Zeepers) realize that the Biden-Woman policy was to push Russia, India, and China together, all allied against the THE WEST. Not very bright.

So Trump is at least trying mitigate their damage as Russia, with half (or more) of its population being European, would like to NOT be in China’s Bear Hug. For the emotional women here (the Zeepers), they cannot process that fact, but Trump understands it and is trying to work with Russia to get some balance, since Russia/China/India is a force that the West does not have a PRAYER trying to take on, given their resources, industrial output, and manpower.

President Trump doesn’t need to convince Europe, nor their approval.

80 years of us supporting the ingrates while they put tariffs on our goods for decades? Those are the 'key principles'? Eff 'em. And if they think after they become Muslim counties - sold out by their 'elites' that we'll honor NATO agreements - they're nuts.

Putin is being stupid though. He’s now giving Chinese and Iranians “visitation rights” in Russia. The Islamocommies are going to take over Russia unless Putin wises up. One of the worst mistakes Putin ever made was to join BRICS. Now the Afghans and S.African white people haters are joining too.

Liberals slobber all over how socialist Europe is what we should aspire to but they don’t realize that its our underwriting of their military costs that have allowed socialist programs to prosper. If they’re forced to fund NATO, they’ll have to make some tough choices on their political paths going forward.

As well it should not. Mr. Brown seems to want a nuclear war.

Countries with large nuclear arsenals will always be treated differently than countries that don’t.

Pro Ukrainian idiologues should’ve figured this out 3 years ago, instead of slurping up some of the stupidest propaganda ever produced by the Anglo Western European Alliance.

The Trump admin gets this one totally correct.

Detente with Russia is FAR more important to the US and it’s essential interests than whether or not a nation of Ukraine exists.

"Migration has destroyed the continent’s self-confidence"

It's going to destroy a lot more than that if the Europeans do not come to the senses and put a stop to it.

There’s over a hundred wars going on in the world today. According to your logic we should be involved in all of them... Not gonna happen.

Ukraine’s a corrupt country - not worth our treasure or blood. If Europe wants to fight and support a war there no one’s stopping them. Our ‘elites’ who laundered money there or got cushy jobs there for their drug addicted whore monger sons like Hunter Biden - should chip in a support their war. The rest of us don’t owe them the time of day. That old crap about ‘save us from Russia” - while buying Russian oil land gas? Yeah, right...

Why do you feel it’s our job to protect all European countries - even those we don’t have treaties with? Any of the European counties calling to see if we need help fighting the cartels and dope dealers? Not a one. No one id calling or stepping up

Can you explain that Texas?

So the Euro dilettantes need convincing? OK then. Starting tomorrow all US military forces will start withdrawing from Europe, to be completed by the end of February. Is that convincing enough asshats?
