I actually picked U of Chicago because I had hoped it would be conservative.
Southern schools might get picked to getting away from snow. Duke is nig exactly conservative. My commie high school classmate went there and came out just as commie.

Ya, because everyone in the South wears cowboy boots. Maybe Texas but not places like NC and SC. Stupid.

I’d bet that if we looked at the faculties at most southern schools, they’d also be overrun with liberals. Even so, the overall vibe is surely more conservative, thanks in large part to the students!

Interestingly, Beth Teitell, the reporter who was reluctant to admit that northern students choose southern schools to escape liberalism went to Duke!

Don't forget that a lot of students' school choice is about getting away from parents.
And when I was getting my BS in computer science here in the south, one northerner said he chose the south because he figured it'd make him one of the smart students by comparison. LOL Only a few of us finished with a BS in CS, and he wasn't one of them.

Gameday boots are totally on trend for girls across the south.

The professors maybe liberal. Heck the faculty at UF when I was there was just as liberal as they are now. But for the most part, the student body was pretty conservative, or at the very least, apolitical.

Believe me, Rice University in Houston, is probably the most liberal campus in the country.

Unless a college is explicitly conservative, like Hillsdale, Liberty, etc., the faculties are overwhelmingly liberal.
But, thanks to the students and the local environment, southern schools do tend to be more conservative.

Ok. I thought boots were a Texas thing cuz I’ve never seen them in the general public in the states I’ve mentioned.

Perhaps tuition rates might have something to do with this. Many times out of state tuition in some states may be lower than instate tuition in the NE.

I am from the South and most of the big name colleges are not conservative at all.

I picked the furthest college I could go to and still get in state tuition just to get as far away from home as I could.
