I have never been able to square this with the fact that (according to CDC) 19.7% of children are OBESE

Another 16% or more are considered overweight.

These are long-term conditions - meaning kids become overweight over years of constant over-eating.

CNN gets some "expert" from an NGO like "Feed America", the purpose of which is to advocate for higher government spending on programs like SNAP, to explain how there is a child hunger crisis in America. The goal is to expand government spending on SNAP and other Welfare programs. And, of course, a lot of that spending makes its way to Feed American to pay Claire's salary.

We can agree it should be handled on the local level where the people are more connected. Doable?

Can the left handle the cutbacks if the locals can do the job? Government involvement takes away the appreciation and guilt that comes with getting a helping hand. Food pantries don’t help when camera crews constantly quote them saying the demand keeps going up.
