Most people in NYC that use the NYC transit system use passes good for both the city buses and the subway system.
I think some buses in Queens are run by private companies. I don’t normally visit Queens when I visit NYC.
All according to plan. Mamdani used the free-bus pledge to help get elected.
He knew the money was not there. Not in NYC, and not in Albany.
The foolish voters believed him anyway.
Now Mamdani and Hochul can both have a good laugh.
Hochul is now the greedy politician. The Mamdani group will now make sure another muslim communist runs for governor with the same freee stuff messaging.
NYC fare cards are timed. I might use the NYC subway to get near Westchester. I can then catch a Westchester Beeline bus to say Larchmont.
The city bus system is usually used in the city for short trips, such as to get across Central Park or from The Cloisters to the main Metropolitan Museum of Art building. It’s also good to travel on Fifth Avenue.

Exactly. They'll have to add buses because so many will be unable to pick up passengers due to all the homeless camped out inside.

The fare evaders are allowed in certain neighborhoods all over this city; they stroll on to buses, no fare paid, and if you dare to look at them, YOU might get into some trouble. They do some enforcement on some select bus routes, but, it’s in the better neighborhoods.
Marxist politicians aside, the MTA is another contemptible, corrupt organization. They receive subsidies from the Feds, state, city, my phone bill, a special tax from businesses operating in the city known as the Metropolitan Commuter Tax, they move (they used to say) 6 million people a day, and STILL cannot ever show a profit. Even if there were no fare evasion, they will still not show a profit; why? Because some of their subsidies will go away if they do, hence, there’s no incentive to ever do so.
As I said, what a f%^&ing joke.
