A disturbing video from Antioch High School in Nashville shows 18-year-old student Kayla Smith pepper-spraying her teacher, Caleb Bates, after he took her phone during class. She was arrested right after the incident for assault.
What makes it even worse is that this wasn’t the first time Bates had been attacked over a phone. Just two months earlier, another student punched him in the face after he caught them cheating. It’s part of a growing problem teachers are dealing with when they try to enforce basic classroom rules.

What can be done ?
School districts Can’t really discipline these days without being sued
Sixty years ago:
Teacher: “Sit down.”
Student: “Yes, teacher.”
Today:
Teacher: “Sit down.”
Student: “My Mama told me that I don’t have to.”
The school admin needs to not only take phones, enforce the rule and let teacher teach. With security backup. They need to get the first clue that their job is policing kids
Teachers cannot teach if they’re policing kids and teachers cannot teach when the kids know there is no policing authority
And they know it
Homeschool is the answer. Not for the students who assault their teachers but for the others whose parents actually care about their children’s education.
Probably one of those aho students who prefers Socialism/Communism over working for a living and earning the American Dream yourself.
She just needs more love and understanding
Institute public caning and this WILL stop.
What do you know? “Them” again.
Antioch area of Nashville is the third world.
Kill taxpayer-funded public education. Kill it dead. Then bury it 30 feet underground, face down.
These kids aren’t learning ANYTHING anyway. They’re just stupid diploma mills. I’ve seen it firsthand.
> What can be done ? <
Retired urban high school teacher here. And the answer to your question is nothing. I don’t know about rural and suburban schools. But urban schools are beyond saving.
And it’s not a lawsuit thing. It’s a PR thing. Woke principals get bonuses and promotions for keeping suspensions low. So they keep suspensions low.
Disruptive students are sent right back to the classroom.
No consequences = Continuous bad behavior
Oh, and one more thing. Even in my worst classes most of the kids were okay. Their education is disrupted by all the chaos. They are the biggest victims here.
“What can be done ?”
School districts Can’t really discipline these days without being sued”
What is done is what has been done.
Kids are in charge.
Take charge back. Get good lawyers, have parents sign contracts. Teach school admin how to police it. Hire more admin. Get school cops that mean business. Wait fifteen years to show prospective parents results
Watching Gutfeld yesterday, they showed a clip of Sydney Sweeney showing up the interviewer. She held her ground. Going around for comment, the panel praised her til one said he could do without the valley girl
I could not understand Sweeney. She made up her own words. She mumbled.
That’s a lifetime growing up with her face buried in a phone
You can cripple these kids hiding from them and their spoiling parents or you can remember You’re paying tens of thousands per year for school not for the poverty parents but to grow and continue the country
Violent and disruptive students need to be permanently removed from the classrooms.
What happened to reform school?
What zoo is this?
Ah yes the 13% again, great job, parents!
That’s some weak “pepper spray.” Probably some ghetto perfume.
