TalkTV host Mark Dolan says the BBC is “dying a slow death” over the “colossal” amount of money spent on the funding model.

Monty Python mocked the TV license in the sketch “Fish Licence,” Flying Circus Season 2 Episode 10 (1970).
The 2020 (comedy) film “The Duke” is a dramatization of the true story of an English retiree who stole Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from London’s National Gallery and tried to ransom it back to the government in return for retirees being exempted from television licensing fees.

But recently there hasn't been much that's caught my eye.My earliest discs are from the late 1960s (Monty Python) and my most recent ones are from about 15 years ago (Planet Earth).
At their best the BBC was light years better than anything produced by US TV when it came to documentaries, dramas *or* comedies.
Yup...on the streets of Britain one still sees the occasional cat detector van!
As long as they can take money from people against their will, they will never die.
And oh by the way, about two years ago the BBC announced unabashedly and unreservedly that they were going full-goose socialist, woke, DEI, and climate changeist.
Everybody in the UK considers David Attenborough to be their kindly old (surrogate) grandpa but, thanks to the nature specials featuring him that the BBC runs endlessly, he is the single greatest shill for Man-Made Global Warming in existence (a fact he no doubt is quite proud of).
The BBC’s rot is beginning to surface.
The BBC produced amazing programming but today it is a mouthpiece for the Left and HAMAS sympathizers.
Even the classic Jeremy Bowen has been working for too long for that news organization.
They are no longer subtle in their antiwesternism bias and the impartiality of reporting is long gone.
In short, they have destroyed their own credibility as serious news organization.
That's for having an unlicensed TV. What are they charged for NOT having a TV at all?
It’s been a few years (5-ish) since I listened to BBC on SiriusXM. They bragged that they were banned in North Korea.
I was trying to figure out what their policy differences were — I’m assuming it was the gender identification issues.
The BBC is the classic case of the left’s long march through the institutions.
They fought World War II to prevent being ruled by insane fascists with stupid propaganda.
Today they are ruled by de facto insane fascists with stupid propaganda.
Just like a vampire.
Japan has a TV tax, too. I had a guy come by to collect. He didn’t believe me when I told him I didn’t have one and insisted on searching the house. He said I was the first person in months that didn’t have one, the last one being an old lady in the mountains.
They should have been run out of business for Jimmy Savile, alone.
I’d rather listen to Pyongyang Patty than the BBC.
I used to love listening to the BBC World Service on Shortwave.

That was 8% of the finding of the charity BBC Media Action, not the entire BBC. Still a waste of money that’s gone now until a tyrant in black robes says that we have a Constitutional requirement to fund foreign propaganda charities.
