The Double Standard for Female Candidates
The New York Times ^ | November 2, 2025 | Molly Jong-Fast and Ingrid Holmquist

Democrats have run women for executive positions before, and it has not worked. And so the question is: Does the electorate have problems voting for women for executive positions? “The outcome of this election is not what we wanted...”

During the No Kings rally, I went to Montclair, N.J., to spend a little time with a member of Congress named Mikie Sherrill. She is one of two Democratic women running for governor in the 2025 cycle. “These two races are the biggest flashing red siren signs for Republicans.” Both women are polling as much as five to seven points ahead of their challengers. “We are optimistic.”

But I talked to a bunch of different people —— “From the great state of New Jersey.” ... and there is an underlying anxiety. Is this anxiety because norms and institutions are being crushed every day? “Don’t tell us what we’re going to feel.” “Trump just smoked four more coke boats.” “I hate my opponent.” Or is this anxiety because a lot of people in the Democratic Party feel that the electorate may be more sexist than we know? “She is a really shallow and uneducated person.” “She is like a biracial werewolf.” “Like a vacuous, incompetent female vice president.”

When I saw Mikie Sherrill, what I was struck by was that she was actually a really great speaker, despite the fact that I had read a lot of stuff that said she wasn’t as good a candidate as she clearly was when I saw her.

So I thought: Wow, what I’m reading in the news does not match with what I’m seeing on the ground. It made me think that maybe there was some kind of anti-woman sentiment that was tainting the reporting, that was tainting the way people were seeing these candidates.

It’s worse than that. Jong-Fast is an arch leftist.

“When I saw Mikie Sherrill, what I was struck by was that she was actually a really great speaker, …”

Apparently the author didn’t see Mikie doing her Ted Kennedy imitation trying to answer a question concerning what single legislation she would most like to pass for NJ. Or maybe it was her Kamala impression…

That’s not a hyphenated name in the sense you probably mean. Her parents gave her that name; like ‘Daniel Day-Lewis’ or ‘Olivia Newton-John’.

And when you speak to President Trump, you realize that none of the BS you read and hear about him is true. See? We can play this game, too.

Blacks and women have a ready excuse when they fail. It is rarely themselves.

We like female leaders we feel we can trust, i.e., Margaret Thatcher, Golda Meir. We run from wanna-be female leaders who come at us like nuns with yardsticks, determined to beat us into loving and respecting them.

Molly Jong-Fast and Ingrid Holmquist don’t get it. You can’t browbeat and insult men into loving you.

Lack of accountability is a common female trait.

You’re welcome.

I’ve found irresponsibility to be a common male trait.

Well, normal healthy straight men, anyway. Maybe that’s the Democrats’ problem. They spend so much time around cucks, queers, and submissives, they don’t realize that those are not normal men.

Two wives and two sisters and none were ever wrong about anything. And if you could prove otherwise. it was always because someone else had told them wrong.

New Jersey has already had one woman governor, Christine Todd Whitman. And regardless of who wins in Virginia, the new governor will be a woman. I don’t understand what point the authors are trying to make.

Lack of accountability is a common female trait.

I think of a man, and then I remove reason and accountability.

Spanberger is riding a wave of anger against Trump by DC bureaucrats living in Virginia who got fired from high-paying jobs.

“Does the electorate have problems voting for women for executive positions?”

Maybe she should try some other positions before trying this one. But, then again, how many positions does she have to try before people take her seriously?

If she can prove to the public that she can come out on top in all or most of them, they’ll get her vote.

Uh, didn’t NJ elect Christine Whitman as governor back-in-the-day. Yes, she was a (RINO) Republican, but obviouslyo also a woman.
