Mayor Brandon Johnson is facing pressure on multiple fronts this week. His campaign refunded $120,000 to two PACs tied to city vendors — part of a larger pattern of nearly $290,000 in refunds and over $120,000 spent on compliance since taking office.
At the same time, Johnson signed an executive order creating “ICE-free zones” across Chicago, blocking federal immigration agents from using city-owned properties such as schools, parks, and libraries for civil enforcement operations.
And now, his budget plan touts a record $1 billion surplus from Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts — even as the city faces a projected $1.15 billion shortfall for 2026. Critics say the surplus exposes long-term structural problems, while supporters call it proof Johnson can balance progressive ideals with fiscal strategy.

Meh, he’s part of the communist machine, they’ll find other ways to funnel money to him. And the people of Chicago will re-elect him.
Last time I checked, schools, parks and libraries in Chicago are also in the United States. ICE agents can go into any of those places to enforce federal law.
Chicago police may not have to help them, but they can’t impede them from doing their jobs.
This mayor know this and he’s trying to bait his police or an activist into blocking ICE.
When the heck are they going to deport that 6% Approval scumbag?

You can bet that those “ICE-FREE ZONE” signs were printed at a cost of at least four times what you would pay to have them done, half of that will get kicked back somewhere.
One thing is certain is brandon is on the take.
Beetlejuice did a better job than this guy and she was a disaster.
