New Yorker magazine has an amusing analysis by art writer Adam Gopnik as to why President Donald Trump tore down the East Wing in order to build a new ballroom next to the White House. The supposed reason gives us insight into just how much corrosive TDS has eaten away at anything resembling rational thought at that periodical.
You can descend into the New Yorker rabbit hole in their bizarre screed published on Saturday in "Why Trump Tore Down the East Wing." The subtitle lays out the dopey thesis: "The act of destruction is precisely the point: a kind of performance piece meant to display Trump’s arbitrary power over the Presidency, including its physical seat."

Trump is an open book. He is interested in upscale buildings. He has built sky scrapers and luxury hotels. He has owned an airline. Is it any wonder that he wanted to update Air Force 1 and add a needed ballroom to the White House with his imprint? No reading of tea leaves needed here.

The White House needed a ballroom to host guests of state. President Trump saw the need and got it done.

Let’s turn the tables: Liberals have never built the ballroom because they hate their gusts and people and want them to step in mud, dine in tents, and pee in a port-a-potty.
Trump is a civilized man with class and loves people, so he is paying to build them a nice facility.
The New Yorker is basically whining about something that isn’t happening pure media logic.
