Maine’s two-term Democratic Gov. Janet Mills will run for the U.S. Senate seat held by veteran Republican Sen. Susan Collins next year, according to two people familiar with Mills’ plans on Friday, setting up a potential matchup between the parties’ best-known figures in a state where Democrats see a chance to gain a seat in their uphill quest for the majority.

Seventy seven is middle age for a senator.
Collins is a survivor. Somehow, I have the feeling that she will win this.
So Collins will be the younger of the two at a mere 72 - go for the youth vote!
This is why Collins played close to the middle.
Unlike Crazy Liz, The Alaskan Kow and Linda, she isn’t in a Red State.
this kind of stuff is why I don’t want the Left to get her scalp. Of course her seat is also a “placeholder” to keep the Democrats from being able to get a numerical majority to control committees, etc. so there is a pragmatic reason as well. She is not, and will never be, a reliable conservative vote, though there are times her vote has been crucial to getting something passed for us (unfortunately for the other side as well at times - but would never be for us with a Dem). She’s also never pretended to be a conservative and has always been up front and honest about her philosophy. No facades of being a conservative at primary election time then spends 5 years being milquetoast until the next election...she’s...”authentically milquetoast.”

Why don’t we just nuke Maine from space and be done with it?
As a bonus it’ll solve the Tucker Qatarlson problem simultaneously.
Is there really any difference between the two?

For anyone else curious...
I wonder if Mills is a serious threat to Collins?
Being that it will be an mid-term election and President Trump isn’t on the ballot.
Even though Collins isn’t a conservative at all, being a Republican could keep us in the majority, so yes, there is quite a bit of difference.
Fair enough.
A loser’s loser vs a loser.
