In August, a guest on Tucker Carlson’s podcast said something that immediately caught his interest. The United States faces a fundamental rift “between heritage Americans and the new political class,” Auron MacIntyre, a columnist for Blaze Media, argued. “Heritage Americans—what are those?” Carlson asked.
“You could find their last names in the Civil War registry,” MacIntyre explained. This ancestry matters, he said, because America is not “a collection of abstract things agreed to in some social contract.” It is a specific set of people who embody an “Anglo-Protestant spirit” and “have a tie to history and to the land.” MacIntyre continued: “If you change the people, you change the culture.” “All true,” Carlson replied.

I have ancestors here early in Jamestown and ancestors on the Mayflower, so I guess I qualify.
— It is a specific set of people who embody an “Anglo-Protestant spirit”
So he doesn’t like the Jews or the Catholics.
My German immigrant ancestor arrived in the 1760’s. The Scots Irish component in the 1820’s. The Cherokee and Lenape (Delaware)? Probably something like 12k BC. That ought to be heritage enough.
Dittos to that ... I have seen gravestones in upstate NY with my family name on them with dates in the early 1700s.
With that little bit of trivia tucked away in my brain I always stump some idiot spouting the ‘we are a nation of immigrants’ crap when I ask ‘at what point does my family lose the immigrant tag?’
My sister and I qualify for Daughters of the American Revolution on my Mom’s side. We are first cousins to Ben Franklin (10 times removed). My Dads side of the family fought for the Confederacy in the misunderstanding.
Ann Coulter once said "Thank God America was founded by White Anglo-Saxon Protestants, otherwise we would be living like Mexico, Brazil, or Quebec."
It's not about religion per se. It's about culture.
People of any nation or culture could be said to be heritage members. Against invaders, interlopers, migrants and revolutionists they are the culture or nation itself. To characterize the non-heritage members as the new political class is to espouse only change and upheaval. Change, for changes sake, is not improvement or reform.
My mom traced our lineage back to the 1600’s. They worked as indentured servants to payoff passage.
My Catholic 3X grandfather died on a field in Virginia, slain by the rebellious Democrats. Had an exceptionally Irish surname. Left behind a widow and two children.
Guess he doesn’t count.
I like all cars. I prefer the 2 door body style. This in no way means I hate the other styles.
Correct. Catholics in USA are shaped by the Protestant work ethic.
I assume Im open pollinated. Im rather cold resistant and resilient in a number of ways but there are some shortcomings so I dont think Im hybrid. Not through Burpee anyway.
Hubby’s mom’s family came through Ellis Island.
All the males got jobs soon after arriving.
The family all spoke fluent English within one generation.
They were proud to be Americans.
No modifier needed or wanted.
FWIW, Trump is not a “Heritage American” but Obama is.
There is such a thing as Mayflower heritage called the General Society of Mayflower descendants. https://themayflowersociety.org/

America had close to zero Catholics at its founding and they didn’t start showing up in numbers until the mid 1800s, our culture had centuries to develop as American, before immigration started changing us in the mid 1800s.
My ancestors came later, but pre-civil war. Two penniless kids, a brother and sister, walked from Kidwelly, Wales to an English port and boarded a ship that took them to Nevis, a Caribbean island where he cut down trees before the slaves arrived to plant sugar. She was a Spinner.
They got paid nothing, but at the end of a few years, they were dropped off on a beach in North Carolina.. NC was on the southern side in the Civil War
IFriends agree that our family should be paid reparations for slavery.
They and their children such as myself are among the strongest opponents of illegal immigration: they played by the rules, waited their turn, and were proud to get here and proud to become Americans. They also detest the butt kissing shown to Latin Americans. As my old Italian boss said, "When-a I got-a here, I no see-a any signs in Italiano."
Now we get whiny b--ches presuming to lecture Americans on their faults and racism while robbing us blind through welfare or outright thievery.
