Trying to find out information about how Des Moines hired an illegal alien with a criminal history, Ian Robert’s, as leader of its schools.
One comment online said rhe board voted him in during a closed session after being made aware of his illegal status.
Link shows he highlighted his immigrant background in his bio and the public announcement was done in English and then in Spanish to local media. It’s also an educationally failing school district.
Any locals with info please share. It’s a key state for national elections.

My prediction is the board will blame the hiring firm for this.
But the guy was at previous employers and no one caught it.

It is public knowledge that a three-person committee was key and hired a search firm for thousands of dollars; Jenna Knox, Kim Martorano, and Teree Caldwell-Johnson.
I assumed this little blue island meant "Des Moines, more liberal than the surrounding cornfield towns because we've got a museum and a few hipster bars" not "Des Moines, so liberal that we're going to hire a felonious, illegal immigrant Guyanese voodoo witch doctor to run our schools!"

Did that firm not get the federal form filled out to verify legal status?
Did the Board go into closed discussion to chose Dr. Roberts? He’s originally from Africa. Then to South America. The here on student visa, so we really have no idea what is background is.
No surprise there. Particularly the hyphenate.
