On Saturday, September 20, 2025, hundreds of people gathered at Patriots’ Corner, where Imperial Highway intersects with Yorba Linda Boulevard in Yorba Linda, California, to take part in a candlelight vigil for Turning Point USA founder and president Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on September 10. Leandra Blades, a trustee on the board of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District served as the master of ceremonies

About two to three thousand showed up for the rally. Leandra Blades, the master of ceremonies is a rising star on the Southern California MAGA scene. During the last election, the teachers' union tried to unseat her, launching a smear campaign and even sending out goons to steal her signs, yet she prevailed and remains on the on the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District's board as an articulate voice for conservatism and a sensible approach to education .

Who is Leandra?
My name is Leandra Blades and I am the current President of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Board of Education.

I'm a wife, mom, retired police officer and community leader. I am also a member of the Republican Party of Orange County Central Committee.

In 2020 I ran to restore parental rights to our community and to remove politics, social justice and social issues that were creeping into our classroom and schools by Sacramento and the teachers union.

I am a longtime resident of a neighboring city and also a Yorba Linda property owner. Yorba Linda is a wonderful community and is a reliable Republican enclave. It has many churches and Christian schools. There are some great places in California. It is our one party state government that wrecks the place.

The rally took place two blocks from where Richard Nixon was born in 1912. The house still stands and I have taken hundreds of guests through it on tours.
