President Donald Trump on Thursday said his administration is "trying" to get the former U.S. Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan "back" from the Taliban.
In remarks to the press while standing alongside U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the president criticized the handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan under President Joe Biden and said he had "a little breaking news."
"We're trying to get it back," Trump said. "We're trying to get it back because they need things from us."

Ok.... still doesn’t explain why our broke nation needs an Air Force base in Central Asia.
The decent runway and the proximity to Kabul are only a couple of the things that make Bagram valuable to the U.S.
Let them have it. That's the Middle East and Europe's problem. Not ours.
Afghanistan and Iran don’t like each other much. Sounds like Trump is trying to capitalize on this angle. Imagine US and Taliban become “allies”. Unreal.
If Communist China is a problem, don't trade with them or tariff the hell out of them. We aren't doing that. We aren't even creating alliances to with the EU and such to contend with them.
