In Iowa, Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) criticizes New York members of Congress who haven’t endorsed Zohran Mamdani’s candidacy for NYC Mayor.

“That kind of spineless politics is what people are sick of,” he says. “They need to get behind him, and get behind him now.”

Van Hollen was the keynoter at the traditional Polk County Democrats Steak Fry at Water Works Park in Des Moines. Probably couldn’t get a bigger name.

Iowa Democrats no longer vote first and don’t determine their preferred candidate for president until late in the cycle, so it’s no longer an advantage for a Democrat to work Iowa early.
