Based on discussions with retired senior US military officials, the best chance for the F-35 Ferrari option is not as an option if the F-47 falters or is delayed. Where it may have the greatest utility, said one source very close to the program, is that technologies being developed for the Block 4 F-35 are close to the baseline for the very first models of the F-47. There is the possibility of a happy marriage there, I was told, that is the option with the greatest potential.
Based on what National Security Journal is being told, if there is a chance for the Ferrari option technologies to become part of any new program, it is to support the development of the Boeing aircraft and the Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) “Loyal Wingman” unmanned platforms that will be operating alongside it.

These “all purpose satisfy everyone with everything” jets are nothing but corporate welfare. The concept is already 20 years behind the times. The most high tech weaponry in Ukraine is obsolete thanks to $100 drones. And the $100 drones are soon to be obsolete by Israeli developed laser weapons. BUT there is money to be had.
Ford vs. Ferrari. Boeing vs. Lockheed-Martin? Seriously?
“And the $100 drones are soon to be obsolete by Israeli developed laser weapons.”
The cheaper ones will be, for sure. With the drones / counter-drone technological race we are roughly in WW1 (1918 phase).
So Lockheed has their payments out and their suction in the right pit... again. This is the same corporate culture that paid to play on the 104, the same that killed the F-22 because they could make more money on the F-35, the same that produced an airplane decades late, over budget and under available, the same corporate culture that had a big hand in causing the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act to be made law because of their numerous payoffs to foreign authorities.
Yeah, corporate welfare. Promote a three decade old aircraft as a Ferrari to a bunch of know-nothing politicians, about right.
In my perfect world vision Lockheed would just die.
The F-35 “Ferrari” version? That’s some weapons grade gaslighting there. The F-35 moonpig is barely supersonic at sea level, and can only hit Mach 1.6 at altitude. But let’s call it a Ferrari...
the F-16 embarrasses it.
Do you have that etched on a bullet?
I’m waiting for the unmanned more electronic version, the EGAD.
(I’ll show myself out)
The F-47 will never enter production.
I liked it!
Basically anything on the ground, on wheels, on tracks, fortified positions are taken out by cheap drones. There are thousands of videos like this on both sides.
