The man accused of brutally stabbing Ukrainian refugee Irina Zarutska to death on a Charlotte subway came from a family riddled with a history of violence and murder.
Decarlos Brown Jr., 31, the man who murdered Zarutska, was no stranger to committing crimes or even going to prison for his violent actions in the past. Reportedly, neither were his closest family members.
Diagnosed with schizophrenia, Brown Jr. had racked up at least 14 arrests ranging from robbery with a dangerous weapon to felony larceny and assault. Even so, in January, a judge allowed him to walk free on a “written promise,” as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
Brown Jr.’s story is part of a bigger picture.
His father, Brown Sr., has been arrested for breaking and entering, larceny, felony conspiracy, and possession of a weapon on a college campus.
His older brother, Stacey Dejon Brown, is serving a 27–36-year sentence for a 2014 murder. Along with an accomplice, Stacey gunned down 65-year-old Robert Heym during a robbery and then fled the scene on the Charlotte light rail, according to WBTV.
Brown Jr.’s half-brother, Jeremiah, has spoken openly about the family’s history of crime, telling the New York Post, “He was on my father’s side. They have a record of being in jail and stuff….”
“I think he should suffer the consequences,” his half-brother added.
Despite his long history of violent crimes, Brown Jr. was freed to kill. For a woman who fled war in Ukraine to find peace in America, this outcome was a cruel twist of fate.
President Donald Trump put it bluntly on his Truth Social platform, writing, “The ANIMAL who so violently killed the beautiful young lady from Ukraine, who came to America searching for peace and safety, should be given a “Quick” (there is no doubt!) Trial, and only awarded THE DEATH PENALTY. There can be no other option!!!”
Why isn’t his status as criminally insane being brought up?
Hasn’t he been legally diagnosed with schizophrenia?
If so, why wasn’t he committed as criminally insane?
He’s not schizophrenic.
He’s just knows what to do and say.
His actions on the bus were not those of a schizophrenic.
He’s a sociopath.
How do you know that?
First off, the guy is a career violent criminal from a family of career violent criminals.
People like this are professionals at lying to police, judges and mental health workers to manipulate and gas light the system to get favorable treatment from the criminal justice system to avoid consequences and jail time for their actions.
The are often working with mental health evaluators who are anti law enforcement and pro criminal and are looking for any evidence to declare perps mentally compromised to allow them to skate on criminal prosecution.
And frankly, coming from a low functioning ghetto background and being raised and socialized by similar violent career criminal parents and family members his world view and value system are so warped by his criminal upbringing that if any normal person tried to talk with the guy would choose to believe he was insane because his whole thought process is totally alien to that of a normal person
Kirk’s murder certainly got this story out of the headline quickly - just as the month-long media effort to suppress it had failed.
A family of sociopaths.
He knew how to get on the train, knew he had killed her, fled the train after taking his hoodie off. He was fully aware that he “got” a “white girl”. He will be tried for murder and not criminally insane..
They don’t “commit” people anymore. They give them a tent and let them live on the street.
Even Saul Goodman could beat the rap.
A whole lot of it is genetic and the gene pool has to be emptied.
A person I know was a graduate counselor for the state. Why she did it I’ll never know but she finally ended it and regretted it. What? She operated a half-way juvenile rehabilitation home, ATTACHED TO HER HOUSE WHERE SHE LIVED WITH HER HUSBAND AND TEENAGE DAUGHTER!!
We had a family reunion and she brought the three teen boys in her care to it. I was a young man in my 30s at the time. The boys were restless and I had been in Scouts and such but no ideallist, I knew better. I decided to give them a break and offered to take them on a night hike for star gazing.. We walked down a park access / county road. A car came down the road with whoops and hollers then stopped and turned around headed back. I told the boys to go up a cut slope and into the woods and be absolutely quiet. They did so and the car occupants got out and started searching, obviously drunk. I watched in silence until one of the boys started mouthing off about going down and fighting them. It was Pavlovian, genetic I found out, he was programmed for violence and horrible judgement. All three kids were from lousy repeat offender homes with many family members in prison. They have little chance of ever being successful people. That was more than 35 years ago. I’d bet a lot that all of them are either in jail or have been many times or are dead by now. By the way, all were white. Bad seeds come in all colors.
The gene pool has to be emptied or at least constrained. Good people can’t live with rabid dogs, they need to be killed. Why they are rabid does not matter. Why they do what they do does not matter. All that matters is that they are rabid and they are dangerous and they can’t be changed and they must be eliminated. It is sad but simple. It is a choice for self-preservation.
Deterrence? It can’t be effective if it takes years to execute the consequences. It is like punishing children, you have to do it immediately if it is going to have an impact. You can’t wait, that looks insane and it is.
I think it would help if we at least knew his criminal background, if a Court ever acknowledged he was schizophrenic, and if so, how the issue of being criminally insane was handled.
We’re in the middle of a feeding frenzy right now, and I think a little pause and maybe answers to some reasonable questions might help.
He knew full well what he had done and that is the legal standard. Not to mention he was calmly sitting on the train, did not attack any other people, just the white girl. He did not exhibit agitation, or excitability, he was not exhibiting repetitive body movement, rapid frenzied speech or any other obvious schizophrenic symptoms during a mental break.
BTTT
psychopath
A schizophrenic in a schizophrenic rage would not have had the wherewithal or the mental capacity to try to change out if a bloody shirt. He did it because he knew what he did was wrong and wanted to get away.
He’s a lying arsehole.
Easier said than done.
My brother was a violent, schizophrenic drug addict, back in the 70s-2000s. He was a veteran but the VA had no apparent ability to do more than hold him for a bit and then release him. They prescribed meds but he could not be forced to take them, and they weren’t that effective anyway. My parents had no idea how to get him committed, and really could not grasp that their son could be as dangerous as really was. So nothing was done until after he killed an innocent elderly man while having a hallucination that somehow the man was a dangerous traitor. Then, he was finally put in the secure ward of a mental hospital. That was 1981. I was 19. Luckily he was never sane enough to stand trial so he was just hospitalized for years until he died.
I do not know what the current law is about committing someone. But from recent events, it would seem that the situation has not improved.
There is no excuse for that monster murdering that innocent young woman in cold blood like he did. None.
“He knew how to get on the train, knew he had killed her, fled the train after taking his hoodie off. He was fully aware that he “got” a “white girl”. He will be tried for murder and not criminally insane..”
He was rational enough to pick the victim that was least likely to fight back effectively.
