Or maybe they meant North American. For example, the left likes to say that millions of blacks were brought as slaves to America, hoping people are duped into thinking it’s United States (or colonial United States) instead of all of North and South America.
Are you saying that Japanese people don’t understand tennis, Cari????? Uh-oh.
She’s right. Osaka is an American playing for Japan. A child of a Japanese passport holder can represent Japan. Osaka’s mother hasn’t been naturalized and Naomi was duel citizenship. Japan requires duel citizens to make a choice when they turn 21. They probably turned a blind eye and kept renewing her passport or she left her passport expired without denouncing. Naomi barely speaks Japanese and hasn’t lived in Japan since 3 years old..
“Her dad is African American? “
Haitian with parents living is US.
“I am okay if Naomi Osaka thinks she is American.”
She has stated that she considers herself more as a Japanese.
Deport her, then.
Although Osaka was raised in the United States, her parents decided that their daughters would represent Japan. They said,
"We made the decision that Naomi would represent Japan at an early age. She was born in Osaka and was brought up in a household of Japanese and Haitian culture. Quite simply, Naomi and her sister Mari have always felt Japanese so that was our only rationale. It was never a financially motivated decision nor were we ever swayed either way by any national federation."[
In the runup to the 2020 Olympics, Osaka—long a dual citizen of Japan and the United States—renounced her American citizenship so she could represent her birth country at the Games.
She is clearly Japanese/Haitian. I don't know how she ever got to be American and then renounce it.
“Her dad is African American”
A few facts on Osaka…….her father is Haitian, and she has lived in the U.S most of her life and still does in a 10 million dollar California home. When she turned pro, she played under the American flag, changing to Japan, never living there.
During the BLM riots, on numerous occasions referred to America as a GENOCIDAL COUNTRY, murdering black people. Yet she continues to live here.
Her black rapper boyfriend joined her in a trophy presentation where he gave the finger during photos.
Naomi has had multiple “mental breakdowns” during interviews etc. She has taken multiple mental health breaks from tennis…….don’t be fooled. She took breaks because she couldn’t pass mandatory drug testing.
Not sure. Her Dad’s parents have been in NY a long time so who knows what the interpretation is.
As a life long tennis player, my only interest in all sport people is their skills. I do not waste time learning about Their personal life.
It was the same with Tiger Woods. As a life long golfer I watched in awe his skills during his prime years. Easily the best golfer in my lifetime during his prime.
too bad they both couldn’t have lost. Woked out Kamala supporting racist airheads.....power to the people.....get outta here.
Why would anyone take time to “learn” about an athletes personal life, or politics when they gladly tell you what they are. As an example, was it necessary for Coco Gauff to publicly read a high school graduation congratulations letter from Michelle Obama? How about Coco at seventeen screaming, “I demand change””. Or, Japanese Naomi Osaka referring to America as a genocidal country
Being a “life long” tennis player plus a full scholarship college tennis player daughter, I have one thing to say, STFU and play tennis.
I preferred to good old days when all the tennis players were lesbians.
Just ignore stupid remarks by anyone. You can not change stupid. Luckily when Naomi is playing tennis in a tournament, she is only playing tennis. That is why I watch her. I ignore her off the tennis courts.
