The state of Iowa will have a chance to upgrade its congressional delegation next year, though the White House understandably wanted to play it safe.
CBS reported, Senator Joni Ernst (RINO-IA) will not be seeking reelection to the Senate next year. An official announcement is scheduled for Thursday.
Ernst has served in the Senate since 2015.
A source told CBS that Ernst had told people close to her that she intends to serve only two terms and will enter the private sector.
This news will come as a disappointment to the White House, as President Trump had urged Ernst to run again for the Senate. The reason for this is that incumbency is a powerful asset and there is no stomach for a nasty primary.
However, there is tremendous potential for a true MAGA candidate to emerge. This is necessary considering Ernst’s deviations from America-first conservatism.

She is unpredictable. Sometimes MAGA sometimes Mitch McConnell’s A team.
“This is necessary considering Ernst’s deviations from America-first conservatism.”
Yes indeed.
A real Opp to bring on a Mega MAGA Warrior!
Not a big loss. She came on strong as a conservative but allowed herself to be coopted into the Country Club RINO set and became a profound disappointment.
Twelve years is enough. During her terms, Iowa has turned from purple to solid red.
If she were in Pennsylvania or New Mexico, I would feel different, but there should be some good talent in Iowa. She also gave enough notice.
Good riddance.
Better find someone folky to counter the guy the democrats have running. I’m finding this terrible news. She was hounded by nasty people. Why should she run? What exactly did she do to get the easily obtained RINO tag? What bills did she say no to?
Yup.
I think I donated to her campaign many, many moons ago.
The conservatives are their own worst enemy. We had a great 2026 for the senate until the conservatives became spoiled brats. Oh well. They’ll blame it on cheating. That moldy excuse is the answer for everything.
Big yawn.
2026 is not a good year to put a potential swing seat in play. And ... Iowa.
Republican primaries in Iowa have been known to get, uh, colorful. Maybe Todd Akin will come out of retirement, base his campaign on having the biggest Trump tattoo in the state on his butt, and flash it in the televised debate. In Iowa, that could make him the MAGA darling and clinch the nomination.
Then he’ll handle snakes and speak in tongues in the general election campaign and boot another winnable race.
In Iowa, it’s possible.
Just for the record, I like Iowa. A lot. I am just fearful of Republican primaries in Iowa. Has the state GOP gotten better on vetting candidates?
Well, bye.
Was it her that gave Sec Pete Hegseth a hard time?

You’re soooo predictable.
Total rino.
I consider her a disappointment. Too much of an establishment.
I say the same for Deb Fisher in Nebraska.
And Shelly Capito is way too far liberal for the state of West “by God” Virginia.
You see a pattern here? They are all women. The only true conservative women in the senate is Marsha Blackburn from Tennessee. Even Katie Brit from Alabama is too establishment.
MAGA can do much better than this slate of milquetoast.
How about current Governor Kim Reynolds?
Democrats picked up a state senate seat recently in a special election.
The seat is now open to a nasty Democrat .
I think Joni and Kim Reynolds are tired of the nastiness of politics.
Who would want the job?
And Grassley is 92
