TLDR: The American Bar Association has spent decades pushing sweeping gun control—from penalties on victims who don’t report stolen guns, to redefining the Second Amendment as “militia-only,” to backing bans, mandates, and red flag laws—despite no evidence these measures reduce crime.
The American Bar Association (ABA) has voted to recommend American polities adopt criminal or civil penalties for people who do not “promptly” report the theft or loss of firearms. A paragraph was added to the resolution recommending the statutes, rules and regulation “include safeguards to protect a person’s Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination”.
The ABA has championed many infringements on rights protected by the Second Amendment, starting in 1965. The ABA lists 24 years of the last 60 where they advocated for more restrictions on the ownership and use of firearms. Here is a list of the resolutions passed over the years, starting in 1965, to promote more restrictions. A brief excerpt for each is included.
1965 Amend Federal Firearms Act of 1934
..amend the Federal Firearms Act to prohibit the shipment of firearms in interstate commerce except between federally licensed manufacturers, dealers and importers; to prohibit sales by federally licensed dealers of shotguns and rifles to persons under 18 years of age, and of all other types of firearms to persons under 21 years of age;

Many states have a provision allowing attorneys to conceal carry just because they are an attorney.
The ABA is supposed to be lawyers representing Americans. Instead, they are a political action group.
The ABA should think about following the constitution and the law.. that would be a huge change.
These are the same greedy pork chops who gave us all of the Feral Foreign Dipstick, skanky “judges”. Screw the Shyster ASSociation. Lawyers suck and everyone knows it.

I read this as the ABA knows how people generally feel about lawyers.

I wasn’t as tuned in. It took me a few years to see the light - however, it was only a few. Never looked back and stronly encouraged others to leave, too. Most did.
Anyone cross check the carry license list vs bar list? Nice to expose the hypocrisy……
They should keep their opinions based on what they drink at the bar association. Certainly not legal opinions.
They need the money associated with the cases regarding illegal possession. They need the money associated with the increased criminal activity when fewer people are armed.
More guns less crime is the absolute truth and ABA lawyers are really of the prostitute mindset when it comes to the law.
