DEVELOPING: Trump HUD is proposing a two-year cap on fraud-infested Section 8 housing subsidies, which currently have no time limits or work requirements. Studies show at least 1.4 million have been freeloading off tax-supported Sec. 8, which brings more crime to neighborhoods...

The Democrats and the media are going to go absolutely bonkers over this. Get ready for screams of racism.
I VOTED FOR THIS!!! Go Mr. President! :-)
Section 8 is a potent political weapon of the radical left.
It’s pure taxpayer funded, neo-marxist social engineering - as well as corrupt Democrat crony-capitalism.
Good the whole damn thing is a scam. Whenever my Mom has an apt to rent(I handle the email from perspective renters) and someone says that they get section 8, I delete the email and move on
and someone says that they get section 8, I delete the email and move on
Isn’t that illegal in some places, I thought they force people to accept Section 8 renters.
Hmmm.
Have to see the numbers, but I am pretty sure . . . hmmmm, well, there is a huge quantity of 65+ types who are on housing subsidy. I think it is Section 8 identical without having that name Section 8.
Oops, nope, AI says it is part of Section 8. They get some preferential treatment in the queue, but it is seniors on Soc Sec that get the break.
Two years? How about NO years. Section 8 is nothing but socialism personified—others paying for free or reduced housing. If it is such a good idea, why not extend it to everyone? Free housing for everyone!!! Zoharan Bastarddami, I’m with you!!!!
Eff the rasicm charge. Plenty of white trash mommas got new baby daddies kicking it at the "single mother" homestead too!
It will usually be an age restricted community that does housing subsidy program via Section 8.
This is not fraud, people. I suspect Trump is right and there is fraud in that program, but my general feel is a huge % of this are 65+.
I have been calling for caps on ALL welfare entitlements for decades! Finally a POTUS who gets it! Just like the feeding the bears at Yellowstone, giving people free handouts just makes them dependent on welfare. With exceptions for those who are truly disabled (with strict verification and monitoring), there should be a 2-5 year LIFETIME LIMIT on all welfare. Food stamps, housing assistance, SSI, medicaid, etc. And absolutely no benefits for illegals of their kids.
>> This is not fraud, people.
Ever driven by, or through, or near, Section 8 housing?
My general feel is that your general feel is WRONG, Owen.
>> I suspect Trump is right and there is fraud in that program, but my general feel is a huge % of this are 65+.
So close the loop — what exactly are you advocating? That Trump back off and fuggedaboudit because seniors live in subsidized housing?
All this crap should go, but not until and unless Trump restores a combination of wages and housing costs that low-skill workers can manage.
The quickest and surest way to get there is mass deportations that would simultaneously increase wages and decrease housing costs.
Unfortunately, Trump has instead come out for amnesty and is futzing around with onesy-twosy deportations of supposedly violent criminals instead.
Trump’s shift to please his donors will also ultimately doom his tariffs strategy, as only rising wages can offset higher prices.
Approximately 30% of public housing residents and 46% of Project-Based Section 8 housing residents are elderly (age 62 and older), according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition. And 62 ain’t elderly. So no, MOST section 8 and public housing is not “elderly”, even using 62 as a measure.
We get PLENTY of applicants, so we go with the best one
I’ve driven through age restricted section 8 properties, yes. Look fine to me. Let’s ask AI about %
AI says two sources, one says 29% of Section 8 are 62+ (not 65) and the other source 38%, same age.
What about disabled 55+ on SSI?
I conclude that somewhere around two-thirds of Section 8 subsidized renters are working age. Agree or disagree?
