Since the beginning of this year, American journalist Tucker Carlson, an icon of media conservatism, has started generating controversy due to a notable "ideological shift." According to various investigations, this is because Carlson is part of a Qatar influence strategy over American media.*
Official documents submitted to the U.S. Department of Justice under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) reveal Qatar's growing influence in strategic sectors of the West, including the academic world, sports, real estate, and now also media, with special emphasis on right-wing sectors.
According to reports, before Trump's victory in the elections, only 10% of Qatari lobbying was directed at conservative media. However, after his win, 50% of lobbying efforts focused on channels such as Fox News, the New York Post, and the Daily Mail.
The goal of that decision is to improve Qatar's image, a country accused of its ties to Hamas and Iran, and to present it as a reliable strategic partner to Washington.
In this context, Tucker Carlson turned out to be one of the clearest examples of this strategy. In March, Carlson conducted an interview with Qatar's Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, which surpassed six million views in just a few hours.
"There is enormous pressure on the United States to participate in a new war against Iran. Qatar's government considers it reckless, so, of course, it is being relentlessly slandered in American media. Qatar's Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, explains it," Carlson said when presenting the interview.
However, what is most striking is the clarification that the American journalist himself wrote in the tweet: "Includes paid partnerships." This demonstrates the Arab influence strategy over certain media outlets and journalists.
Behind that action was the American consulting firm Lumen8 Advisors, hired by the Qatari embassy in Washington. The contract, for 180,000 dollars per month, requires exclusive work with Doha, first-class travel, and total availability. Lumen8 can't collaborate with any other Middle Eastern country without Qatar's direct authorization.
In addition, Tucker Carlson Network (TCN), his new platform after leaving Fox, has as its main investor a powerful Qatari sheikh known for his strong opposition to Trump.
This funding coincides with an editorial shift by Carlson, who now speaks out against any U.S. intervention in the Middle East and criticizes Trump's decisions in the region.
According to Iranian state media, Qatar said that “Persian Gulf states will run out of drinking water in three days if Iran's nuclear sites attacked.”*
Laurie Cardoza-Moore, founder of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations (PJTN), has criticized conservative commentator Tucker Carlson following his recent interview with Qatar's Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. She alleges that Carlson's actions indicate a troubling shift toward antisemitic sentiments and alignment with nations known for controversial stances on Israel.*
In the interview, Sheikh Mohammed warned that an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities could severely contaminate the Gulf's water supply, affecting countries like Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait. He emphasized that such an event would leave the Gulf with "no water, no fish, nothing... no life," urging for diplomatic solutions over military actions.

Between January 1, 2024, and election day, just over 10% of communications sent by Qatari foreign agents to the media were directed to conservative outlets or commenters, according to a Washington Examiner review of Department of Justice records. Since Republicans won control of the White House and Congress on election day, the proportion of messages sent by Qatari operatives to conservative outlets and commenters has surged to more than half of their total correspondence with the media.

What’s left to say about Chatsworth Qatarlson that he hasn’t already said about himself. He has had more positions on Iran and Israel than you can count — the Happy Hooker of politics — but has wound up supporting a terrorist regime that has murdered and maimed thousands of Americans. His preposterously hysterical warnings about what would happen if the president acted militarily against Iran’s nuclear sites were illustrative of his unhinged bravado. Of course, this far exceeds policy or political differences. It’s typical Qatarlson. A trust-fund prep school baby with a bizarre, oddly timed nervous kackle a la Kamala Harris and a narcissistic character. For Qatarlson, Happy Hour seems like a 24/7 affair. Now, of course, he claims the mantle of MAGA and did so when he accused President Trump the other week with complicity in starting WWIII when the president dared to back Israel, who Qatarlson hates, in its existential battle against Iran. And he continued his pro-Iran rants for days. President Trump called out Qatarlson twice, calling him a kook and kooky, leading Qatarlson to grovel and beg the president for forgiveness, fearing his house of cards platform, funded by the millionaires he claims to detest, will collapse. He was also called out by a prominent Evangelical pastor for antisemitism, whom he also reportedly begged for forgiveness. Now, he and his comrades want you to forget not just his and their long record of incoherence and self-promotion, but the last few weeks when he publicly undermined our president and military as it prepared for battle and carried out one of the most remarkable operations in history. It was absolutely flawless and destroyed Iran’s nuclear facilities. In the end, he prominently thanked Qatar for mediating a ceasefire, that was broken in less than 24-hours by Qatar’s ally, Iran.
When the president issued a Truth Social post about a ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran, I spoke for some 3-hours and posted on social media about the pros and cons of a deal with Iran, including whether Iran can be trusted given it is a terrorist regime and has never honored any agreement, whether China and Russia will be part of it given their provision of air defense weapons and fuel for ballistic missiles, and the like. There was no vitriol. Not criticism. But some questions that our administration will have to take into consideration and which have subsequently been discussed and raised throughout the public discussion. For Qatarlson and his comrades, that was warmonger talk. And he and they went right back to their crackpot sloganeering and howling at the moon, which in turn is promoted by Trump-hating leftwing media websites and outlets.
Early this morning, Iran did, in fact, violate the ceasefire and not in some insubstantial way. It was not a mistake. It was a direct attack. Two massive ballistic missiles. And Iran’s nuclear chief just stated that they intend to reconstitute their nuclear program. This morning, as he was leaving for NATO, the president made comments mostly directed at and critical of Israel, with which I cannot agree. And I will respectfully discuss this later in the day, not to attack or disparage the president, but air my long-held and consistent views. Israel’s democracy and Iran’s terrorist dictatorship are nothing alike no matter how much Israel is pressured. I can predict that when I discuss this, the cabal will kick into action and their media will do the same. That said, they’re loud but inconsequential. My audience is American loving patriots, as it always has been.
