As Dems attempt to mount a comeback for 2028, Stephen A. Smith is still flirting with the idea of a presidential campaign.
While appearing on Real Time with Bill Maher, the NBA analyst admitted that although he “can’t imagine” running for president, it remains a “possible” option for him after previous talks of a pivot to public office.
“Listen, life is good, man. I mean, I leave the door open,” he told Maher. “I can’t imagine myself doing it, but I haven’t ruled it out, because I’m disgusted with what I’m seeing on the left.”
Smith added, “I look at the national voice for the Democratic Party, it is non-existent. As far I’m concerned, a **** construction worker could win the Democratic nomination right now, as bad as it is for the Democratic party. They better get their act together. And excuse my language, but they are in for an ***-kicking if they don’t get their act together. The party is in disarray. New leadership.”
In April, Smith shared an article about speculation of his political plans, confirming he is “officially leaving all doors open” for a 2028 run. “Time to stop messing around,” he wrote in part. “Hate the thought of being a politician. But sick of this mess.”
Smith later told Deadline he has “no intentions” of running for president. “I’m leaving my options open, but in the same breath, I have no desire to be a politician at all,” he said in May.

Well, he definitely speaks his mind. Quite clearly too. Idk how well his ‘I’m smarter than you, just ask me’ shtick is going to play with know it all leftists.

I don’t think he is serious about running, but he knows this kind of open air speculation will gain him a new level of attention and focus. Is it near time for his contract to run out and be re-negotiated? If so, this would be a good time to find ways to ‘Big Up’ his media impact.
Smith also knows, if he really does become a candidate, he will need to give his ESPN job up. Many at ESPN would love to finally be rid of him, with all his outspoken views. So with an active candidacy he would have his ‘enemies’ attention too.
Our good friend Sean Hannity used to play this game all the time at FOX, probably with Buddy Bill O’Reily encouraging him to do it.
Two dangers——Stephen Smith and also Harold Ford, Jr. (on Fox News). 1997-2007 was Congressman in Tennessee. Staff of Morgan Stanley, Bank of America and PNC. Fox panelists kid him “you sound like you are just about to jump to being a registered Republican.”

I view someone like him the same way I view Charles Barkley-there are times he says something that makes me think “Hey, he gets it...”
And then a minute later he opens his mouth and sounds like an affirmative action, race baiting dumb-ass.
Show me the guy who says, “I’m the smartest guy in the class,” and I’ll show him as a wishing man who has just a loud voice to “prove it!”
Reality will show a loser with no credibility.

The ego of this guy is something. I never liked him, and always turn the channel off if he comes on. The Smith Presidential Campaign is a replay of Basketball Jones, Watermelon and Fried Chicken....
