Free Access: How the Deep State Took Down Richard Nixon
Warroom Films ^ | Michael Patrick Leahy

A documentary from Michael Patrick Leahy Investigates, featuring Geoff Shepard

The Deep State first tried to take down a sitting President of the United States more than half a century ago.

It took more than two years of effort after the June 17, 1972 Watergate burglary, but on August 8, 1974 they succeeded, when President Richard Nixon announced from the Oval Office that he was resigning from office the following day at noon. Nixon was the first president in American history to resign from office.

21 months earlier, in November 1972, Nixon had been re-elected to a second term as president in one of the greatest electoral college landslides in the history of our country. Nixon won 49 states. His Democrat opponent, Senator George McGovern, won just one state – Massachusetts – and the District of Columbia, our nation’s capital.. The final Electoral College results were overwhelming: 520 for Nixon, just 17 for McGovern. And in the popular vote, 60 percent cast their ballots for Nixon, with only 37 percent for McGovern.

But less than halfway through his term in office, Richard Nixon was gone.

Why? Not because of Watergate. Not because of a smoking gun.

No; it was: Secret meetings between judges and prosecutors; evidence hidden from defense attorneys; biased juries; an unaccountable prosecution force packed with political enemies, Congressional leaders who were out to get the president, and a dishonest media.

The Deep State took Richard Nixon down by unprecedented prosecutorial misconduct, withholding of exculpatory evidence, reprehensible judicial misconduct that included many prohibited secret ex-parte meeings with prosecutors, massive violations of Fifth Amendment due process rights and Sixth Amendment fair trial rights, and the one-sided dishonest reporting by ALL of the dominant media outlets of the day—CBS, NBC, ABC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time Magazine and Newsweek Magazine.

All told, a corrupt judiciary and unaccountable prosecutors violated the due process rights of Nixon and the Watergate defendants more than a dozen times. We will document all those due process violations—something that no one else has ever done in more than half a century.

This is how the Deep State took down a president — and created the playbook they’ve used ever since.

Michael Patrick Leahy, is an investigative journalist, author, radio show host, and CEO of The Tennessee Star and The Star News Network.

I have been saying Watergate was a Media coup for years.

It appears the “Deep State” and the old dominant media were in cahoots for quite a while.

Obviously they aren’t considering the deep state’s assassination of JFK. Now that was a take down.

Agreed. An argument could be made that the drive by media’s taking down of Nixon, while also having an effect on Vietnam, wet the media’s mouths into thinking they could impact all govt decisions all the time. Including today.

The Deep State’s man inside the White House was none other than John Dean.

I have a liberal friend in New Mexico who is a former senior editor for Time Magazine. He told me once his mission, as a journalist, was to “Bring down a president (Nixon).” So much for honest, unbiased journalism.

The federal prosecutors and one Edward Bennett Williams, attorney for the DNC, met repeatedly behind closed doors with a crooked federal judge named John Sirica whom the damned press loved. This would have been grounds for disbarment for all of them but it was sealed shut, the phony “media” had no interest but in driving Nixon from office, and it occurred in DC and when you give that location and the prospective defendant is a Democrat, ‘nuff said, forget it.

Spiro Agnew, IMHO, was also a victim. He had to be taken out first. Otherwise impeaching Nixon would have been pointless. From their prospective he was even worse. There’s NO WAY they would have impeached Nixon if Spiro Agnew had still been Vice President.

I seem to remember that John Dean was married to a whore. But then, I repeat myself.

They tried the same thing with Donald Trump, but he was smarter than the lot of 'em put together and outclassed them at every move.

They don't know what hit them.

They're still trying to figure it out.

They - TPTB - always hated Nixon. Watergate simply gave them cover and an excuse for hounding him from office. He certainly didn't do anything worse than Roosevelt / Kennedy / Johnson (insert. Dem president name here)....

It took them 608 days from the largest share of the popular vote for the Republican Party in any presidential election (November 7, 1972) to resignation.

“I seem to remember that John Dean was married to a whore. But then, I repeat myself.”

Actually those rumors about Dean’s wife have been exposed as just that - innuendo and rumors, nothing more.

Wrong. Nixon took himself down — by failing to fire his criminal staffers as soon as he discovered what they did. And by not burning the tapes of his conversations with staffers soon as their existence became known.

Just imagine how bad HiLIARita’s unethical conduct was to justify her being launched form the House Watergate Committee
