This is the problem with all DEI hires in any field. Anytime a mistake is made, people will, fairly, annd with good reason attribute it to DEI.
This woman may be a good umpire, but for good reason, she will have to rightly carry that albatross with her.
That is the corrosive and destructive side of hiring using DEI principles, something that was undoubtedly involved in her hiring.
People who say “Oh, she just made a bad call, men make them all the time” can be likened to people who, when confronted with a crime committed by an illegal alien in this country say “Oh, American citizens commit those crimes all the time”.
That may be true, but an illegal shouldn’t be in a position to commit that crime at all the same way a DEI hire shouldn’t be in a position to make a bad call.

The way to handle female umpires is to give them an earpiece that tells them what call to make. No different than female candidates during debates.

The umpiring profession is very strict and selective. You don't make it to the major league simply by being a female. She earned it.....

If this was a guy it would be simply a bad call. I was wondering about that myself.

"Wonder if there’s a polymarket for an MLB fan throwing a dildo on the field now?" That might be risky. Irate fans might grab the miscreant and throw HIM onto the field.

If she looked like this, it would be a not guilty call.

"The way to handle female umpires is to give them an earpiece that tells them what call to make" LMAO! That borders on mansplaining.

I will not ever watch a baseball game again until this BS ends. It is hard to even fathom females on the sidelines asking questions of real athletes.

She just wanted to prove that she was pretty much the same as the rest of them.

Visited my old high school last week. All different, of course, in minor and major ways. Three things gone: One of two baseball fields, the swimming pool (used for competition and community recreation in a hot climate), and the tennis courts. The woodshop and auto repair class building having of course long since ‘repurposed’ into storage. “It’s just change, and you have to get used to it!”, I’m told. The school, with 500 students, couldn’t field a football team a few years back. Yes, ‘change’, indeed.

"She just wanted to prove that she was pretty much the same as the rest of them." Reminds me of the lyrics: "Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything better than you."
In this case it's: Any call you can blow, I can blow better. I can blow any call better than you.

Male umpires are far from perfect. That said, why would there need to be female umpires? MLB is not the woman’s league. There are no female players or or coaches, nor should there be. I don’t agree with demanding “a woman” for the job. It is the same as Biden stating the main qualification for SCOTUS was being a black female.

Yep.
All that matters is can she do the job. Period.
If she can’t -so long.
But people ripping her because of one call? Sounds like some people having mommy issues.

“Major League Baseball never recovered from the strike in 1994.”
Amen. I was an avid A’s
fan back then. Since that I can count how many full innings I’ve watched on one hand.
