I think the most we have ever spent on a single furniture item was $500 for a woodent table that unfolds bigger or smaller and 8 chairs for our dining table. That was at Sam’s Club on a special buy. Has held up very well.
Lol, look up how the shiny NRO Headquarters building in Chantilly, Va came to be. That’s all I’ll say about that.
“…Yeah, that’s your signature over all those change orders that ballooned the costs. I’ll be nice and only hold you responsible for half of that…”
Amen to that! I got called off my job to federal jury duty in a beautiful walnut palace of a courtroom in the federal building.
Me and about 12 citizens with other important business, a number of high paid defense lawyers snd prosecutors and a high and mighty judge were there because some skinny young white kidnprisoner had a joint in Bastrop fed prison! I was thinking, couldn’t you just kick his ass a little and save the taxpayer a quarter to half million bucks? I’m sure he would prefer that.
Still had to catch up to my job.
Nobody. That’s the beauty of government contracts. They just go on and on and until someone raises hell, they just keep going.
You could build a few big league stadiums for the money spent on a remodel of the FED palace and seat 50,000 and more people.
Powell has a cost over run of at least $600 million!
He should not be in charge of our economy!
Watching the news this morning on the local NBC affiliate, when they ran the NBC clip about this visit, the reporter stated that it is a 2.5 MILLION renovation.
LIARS!!!
They make Mary Lincoln look like a piker.
Only she was doing it for social standing.
What is the modern motive? Ruin the country?
I have to say I was never one for slapstick comedy. Even as a kid going to movies with my parents, I didn’t want to watch the cartoons or whatever they were in the ‘40’s etc.
I like subtle, quick wit lines - like the dialogue in Armageddon. That’s online and it’s fun to read the lines. My husband liked shoot’em up, bang, bang movies and he watched those - ALONE! We liked war movies. In his last days he watched a lot of Westerns but I don’t know if he got much out of them..
I’ve been catching up on a lot of Tom Cruise movies and I’m enjoying those. Last night “A Few Good Men” was on again - that I could watch over and over. That had to have the best acting... Also the Reacher ones which I never knew were a series of movies. He’s one great actor and to be admired for what he puts into a movie...his own stunts - and if he doesn’t know how to do something, he learns - like flying and getting his license...maybe Private Pilot but he did it!
I lack your classy taste. Since my childhood Three Stooges and the Caddyshack and Airplane level humor I never looked back.
I started catching up on Tom Cruise movies, too. Never saw any except the first Top Gun. Those Reacher ones should have had more sequels but didn’t impress the studio cash sources with box office figures. Sorry I missed Risky Business and the excellent Jerry McGuire when they came out decades ago.
Also, one of my dvds showed Cruise training to do a stunt of falling off a tall building. He had to slam face first into a “thin screen” which absorbed impact before he went into the bricks of the next building. Staff said they were out of their minds to let multi million dollar talent do that but Cruise did it and made it fine.
Oh! Yes - The Three Stooges and Laurel and Hardy...I guess my parents enjoyed the movie cartoons as I never heard them complain. I just slumped down in my seat and waited for the movie to begin...
I’ve seen the video of Tom Cruise jumping off a cliff on a motorcycle that I guess is in his new movie or maybe one before? I thought it was kind of corny as it was off a ramp over a ravine and I wondered WHY a ramp would be available for the story line.. Not the point, I guess. I’ve read how it was orchestrated but I’ve forgotten..
I read a lot of Lee Child books about Reacher and finally gave them up - the same plot all the time - leaving a town without luggage, ID etc., and arriving in the next town the same way - with a story somewhere in there. I was disappointed when they picked Tom Cruise for the role but since I started watching them, can’t deny that guy has talent. He just didn’t fit the role of the tough guy in the books...too small. LOL He truly has been lucky as he doesn’t turn down any risky stunts, I guess.

Got lucky and found the video - enjoy!!!
