Dear PBS: Independence Can Be Glorious
PJ Media ^ | 18 July 2025 | Rick Moran

To hear National Public Radio (NPR) CEO Katherine Maher tell it, the loss of federal funding for the public network is as close to nuclear armageddon we can get without, you know, actually experiencing a nuclear attack.

No matter. It's really, really, really bad, says Maher.

"There's a real understanding of the need there, as well as for emergency alerting, in which public media plays an extraordinarily important role," she said.

We absolutely have to have this 19th-century technology to warn rural Americans of an "emergency"?

As Robby Soave points out, cutting off NPR and PBS from federal dollars is not censorship. In fact, it's the opposite of the term. "NPR should be free to make its own editorial choices—even ones that are pathologically unfriendly to Trump—and Americans should be free to choose whether they want to pay for it," writes Soave.

Agree with the writer 100%.

Increase fundraising efforts. With no more government funding, PBS and NPR can claim true independence that is not tied to any Federal public money.

A whole lot of noise when less than 16 percent of their budget comes from the government. Guess that is the money that is laundered back to democrat organizations to push democrat propaganda.

"But, we’ll have to work for a living!"

Even more: they'll have to compute on a level playing field with commercial stations for the first time ever -- i.e., commercials stations that didn't have their 'privilege', just to borrow a term.

Maybe she can set up a GOFUNDME to raise money for her audience to purchase ham radios and antennas.

Liberal billionaires will take over defacto control to promote their anti American ,globalist agenda. PBS and NPR need not only to be defunded but dismantled. They are already corrosive to the American nation and will get worse.

Taxpayers do not provide any money for any other networks.

And those networks all find ways to work for the DNC.

Run their transmitters at excessive voltages to degrade their equipment and end the broadcasting of the content they produce. Sell off the channels and spectrum they were granted to reduce the deficeit.

They could be the next MSNBC. And I wouldn’t fault them for it.

abcnbccbs are required to participate in the emergency broadcast system, that’s part of their licensing .
Are they trying to tell me that the pbs viewers are hopelessly uninformed without pbs ?
