UUID (Vanity)

The sequence of characters "9e112725- REMAINDER REDACTED BY ME "is an example of a Universally Unique Identifier (UUID), also known as a Globally Unique Identifier (GUID). UUIDs are 128-bit numbers represented as a 36-character alphanumeric string, including hyphens, designed to be unique across all systems and networks. They are widely used in computing for various purposes, including: Identifying data records: Like a database table might assign a unique UUID to each row, helping to distinguish one record from another, according to Cockroach Labs and PlanetScale. Tracking user behavior: In product and web analytics, UUIDs are used to track user activity across different platforms (mobile apps, websites, etc.), according to Amplitude. Identifying software components and resources: GUIDs (a term used mainly with Microsoft technologies) are used in software development for database keys, component identifiers, and anywhere a truly unique identifier is needed. Facilitating data merging and replication: UUIDs help combine and replicate data from different sources with a low probability of duplication, according to How-To Geek and phoenixNAP. Ensuring data privacy and preventing clashes in distributed systems: By providing unique identities without relying on a central authority, they are crucial for distributed systems and scenarios where central coordination is impractical, says phoenixNAP. They can also help prevent conflicts or "clashes" in Building Information Modeling (BIM) projects by uniquely identifying components, according to Catenda. The likelihood of two UUIDs being identical is considered negligible, making them highly effective for ensuring uniqueness in computer systems. AI responses may include mistakes. Learn more

Thank you very much and God bless you.

istening to War Room last night, Michael Benz was reporting on article discussed in this thread https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4328062/posts

Suddenly, this happened , quoting myself from other thread:

"I was watching Michael Benz report on this last night on War Room. Suddenly , my search bar was redirected to an unknown url, and this kind of thing took over (What is a UUID, and what is it used for?cockroachlabs.com). it redirected my computer into settings and was proceeding to do who knows what when I terminated the connection, It seemed just like what Sharyl Attkison described so long ago when she worked at CBS. Antway, I feel like I’ve been tagged with this uuid and extremely concerning the path the computer was taking, especially considering the subject and people under discussion when it happened."

Any guesses?

Any web page has the ability to redirect you (your browser) to any arbitrary other website page, unless you configure your browser to disallow such action, with the side effect that lots of legit websites stop working because they rely on redirection.

Stay way from dodgy websites. There are two ways to identify a dodgy website:

It's your call whether War Room now qualifies as a dodgy website. I have no opinion.

Unique identifiers are essential to all systems. It’s not a conspiracy.

The website redirect you experienced is probably adware garbage. Clear your cache, run a virus scan, get an ad blocker, and stay off questionable websites.

Good to see you dayglored - and yes agree.

Really important to keep up with privacy and security these days. Beacons, cookies, malware, etc. Hard to know which tools to use and keep up with.
