Leonard Leo is STILL sneaking Never Trumpers into the judiciary.
Just last week, 4 nominees for the 8th Circuit Eastern District of Missouri had their judiciary committee hearing, and it’s SO bad.
Every single one of the nominees agreed with Sen. Durbin that President Trump must follow the orders of radical judges who issue nationwide orders halting deportations of criminal aliens to places like El Salvador and Venezuela.
Even worse, one nominee, Maria Lanahan, is married to Michael Lanahan, who worked for the Club for Growth—an organization that spent millions of dollars AGAINST Trump in the 2024 GOP primaries. This is the same husband who represented the Ferguson rioters pro bono. Why is she being awarded with a potential lifetime appointment to the federal judiciary?
3 of the 8th circuit nominees worked for Raymond Gruender, a FedSoc @FedSoc judge who’d refused to acknowledge that the 2020 election was stolen. Gruender is very close with Leonard Leo. A pipeline of clerks for these nominees is also being curated by Leo’s Teneo @Teneo network & UChicago Federalist Society.
Watch Lanahan fail to even coherently answer a very basic question regarding jurisprudence. Her nomination should be rescinded.

I’m sure I could find better judges for Trump. He needs to stop picking lawyers from the Poison Ivy League for the federal bench and nominate people from the heartland with basic common sense.
As long as Congre$$ and the Supreme Clowns of the US sit on their thumbs the judicial insurrection will only get worse. Maybe it’s time for a Constitutional Article V Convention and set term limits for Congre$$ and spell out exactly what powers the judicial branch has in overriding the Executive Branch’s power to govern.

Her answer was in accordance with Scalia’s views on textualism.
the Trump tax cuts and extention should have been passed already in a separate bill. the dems would have probably supported it. it would look very bad if they voted against working class tax cuts. common sense. this is the difference between the dem and the gope wings of the uniparty.
now because of the gope, we don’t have no tax on tips, we don’t have a cut in social security tax, yet. this is slow and we are not getting what we need.
on top of that, there is obvious pork and bloat still in the johnboy gope bill in defense, green stuff, and even too much allocated for the wall. and that’s just what’s in the news.
there’s got to be a lot more waste because we’re 2T above pre covid which was Trump’s last bloated bill. that spending is impossible to justify.
frankly, the CR should be used to pass the spending/debt against the debt ceiling as usual. as dysfunctional as these people are with the CRs, that’s the only way anything is going to get done in DC until the whole thing collapses. the CR pressures the dems to vote with us.
frankly, it’s a no brainer. the one bill just isn’t going to get anything done. it was a gamble and is turning into a big mistake.
everyone is going to be disappointed and, imho, if that happens, you are right that this legislative failure, again, by the gope congress, will likely lead to a big loss in the midterms. i pray God it turns around and the gop congress gets its act together before it’s too late.
anyway, my two cents.
Trump just made out recently that he was on to this game of being given bad judicial nominees. I guess he was just kidding.
