On Sunday, The Atlantic magazine published a tinfoil hat conspiracy theory by David Frum based not on fact, but entirely on the speculation of a fervid liberal imagination.

In "For Trump, This Is a Dress Rehearsal," Frum provides his theory that former President Donald Trump called out the National Guard during the immigration riots in Los Angeles to prepare for a military takeover of the 2026 midterms.

As usual Frum has it backwards. Democrats have started an insurgency. They have nullified federal immigration law. They are in open rebellion. Trump, like Lincoln, is trying to keep the union together. Trump would be justified under the Insurgency Act to impose the death penalty for treason.

Frum just gave us a great example of "Tell me how you never served in the U.S. military without telling me you never served in the U.S. military.
