I don’t like the idea of a terrified Putin.

Our inner cities look more like 1945 Hiroshima, hmmm maybe all they need is a good nuking.

The heat would make a good disinfectant. Democrats are infectious and toxic... Um, but I really do think it is possible to reverse the decline if we can put teacher's colleges out of business and keep their unions away from children.

It is difficult to be certain of motives.

Russian nationalism is likely one of Putin’s strong motives.

Most of Ukraine does not have a large minority of Russian nationals. Crimea, yes, the other areas occupied by Russian troops, fairly strong Russian minorities. It seems unlikely Russia is being restrained by humanitarian reasons. Russia has already lost a significant part of their air assets in Ukraine.

Historically, Ukraine was close to Russia culturally and linguistically. This war is as stupid and unnecessary as the First World War. It is a tarbaby which President Putin has a very difficult time letting go of.

Never said they weren’t a legitimate target. Just don’t want to hear whining when they strike back...

I support Ukraine in this war to throw off the Muscowite invasion, but in no way is Ukraine gaining the upper hand. Neither is Muscowy. Both are losing.

Putin needs to withdraw.

I don’t think “striking back” has much meaning after three years of continuous war. Russia launched some major strikes before their bombers were hit.

China is winning, big-time. Makes me wonder what the Chinese are doing to prolong the war...

Hmmm - supplying Russia with tech for their weapons

- encouraging North Korea to send troops?

- Buying Russian oil (on the cheap, with long term contracts)

China is the big winner in this war.

Yes, gloating notwithstanding, this could be a dangerous development.

“Russia literally has the capacity to turn Ukraine into a parking lot if it chose to do so,”

A nuclear wasteland is not exactly useful conquered territory.

Defeats the purpose.

It won’t seem like such a brilliant move if Russia decides to nuke the Ukraine.

You're right of course, but I don't think Putin will use his nukes UNLESS some EU countries send troops there. At that point, the probability becomes pretty high.

Probably not, but it was inevitable.

Also a huge wake up call for the US. What if an enemy was to release a drone swarm in the US that targeted our electric grid? Imagine tens, hundreds of millions of Americans with no power for months. You want chaos? That would be catastrophic.

At the end of the day we’re still cavemen without the skillset.

Well done Ukraine. Keep up the crushing innovation.

May it be so!

My thought as well. I am sure you noticed President Trump’s plan to make the US grid far more decentralized and resiliant?

Lots of small independent nuclear power plants.

Putin recieved bad intel that he was going to seize Kyiv in three days.

The Russians were able to seize Crimea without fighting for it. Putin thought he could do the same with Kyiv.

The cool thing about neutron bombs is that they basically leave a lot of buildings and infrastructure intact.

Is Ukraine, or Russia, more likely to have those?

It seems unlikely Russia is being restrained by humanitarian reasons. Russia has already lost a significant part of their air assets in Ukraine.

This does not preclude a headstrong Russian nationalism as motive against what is seen as a surrogate for expansionist NATO intentions. After all, it was NATO that went far beyond its agreements made at the collapse of the Soviet empire.
