Are we about to see Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sitting across from each other at a negotiating table in Turkey? It looks like that could actually happen this week. If both leaders really do show up, there will be peace negotiations in Turkey starting on Thursday. But will these negotiations lead to peace, or will they lead to World War 3?
Western leaders were threatening to hit Russia with a new round of very harsh sanctions if the Russians did not agree to a 30 day ceasefire beginning on March 12th. In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered to start direct peace talks with Ukraine on May 15th…
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday proposed direct talks with Ukraine on May 15 in Turkey that he said should be aimed at bringing a durable peace, an initiative welcomed by US President Donald Trump.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
is there a place to bet that Zelenskyy will ruin this?
... and to bet that the EU protects his misbehavior?
Oh Please.
Right now, I think India/Pakistan/China has a greater chance at becoming something.
So there isn't going to be any WWIII.
Anybody else sick and tired over threats of WWIII in this type of garbage? These small outlets have joined the MSM in clickbait, the Russians know what MAD is are not going to send nukes over a local skirmish as bloody as it may be.
+1
However, if I were Putin I would not threaten Z-man with the loss of his cities. I would threaten him with loss of something a bit more ... personal.
Until Zelensky shuts up about a ceasefire a lasting peace won’t begin to happen. The ceasefire is being used as a road block to ending this.
I hope POTUS dumps Kellogg from here on out because he is deep state neocon.
I tend to think negotiations should be done by e-mailed PDFs.
Russia wants Ukraine to be neutral and not have Western military personnel on its soil.
Ukraine would need to have the right to have unlimited troops, armored vehicles, artillery and aerial weapons such as missiles and drones with a range of less than 100 kilometers.
As with Brexit, nothing should be considered agreed until everything is agreed.
Wouldn't make any difference if Putin assassinated Zelensky. Unlike Russia, Zelensky is not the generalissimo and President-for-life upon which the whole system hangs. Ukraine would just pick someone else and the fight would go on.
Plutonium 239 has a half-life of over 24,000 years.
I think a long-tern peace deal would be easier to get than a ceasefire.
Of course. One is like an intermission at a theater. You get up, stretch your legs, go potty, buy snacks then you return to your seat and resume where you left off.
The other is like the movie is over and you go home.
How many nuke warheads does Russia have for every US city of >50K?
Which is why they will never be used.
Western leaders???
Or european leaders???
“I hope POTUS dumps Kellogg from here on out because he is deep state neocon.”
Yep, Kellogg’s either lost his mind, or is evil - doing the dirty work for the Neocons. Hard to tell, given his age.
In any case, he is doing the Neocon bidding by default, which is to try to drag this war out until Jan 2029, when, hopefully for them and the Zeepers, a warmonger gets into the White House.
The thing is, I really doubt Russia will play ball for that long, so I expect them to STEP THINGS UP while Trump is in office, which will mean, among other things, a full mobilization and likely direct help from China, Iran, and North Korea (and maybe other countries). Putin dropped a very important hint in the past few days, calling it a WAR, instead of an SMO, and it was not by accident.
Then Trump will have to decide whether risking WW3 is worth it. Do we drop nukes on the Russian troops, or take the Vietnam approach - or walk away. Tough decisions ahead, although us Trump voters elected him to simply WALK AWAY - otherwise if we wanted the war to escalate, we would have voted for Harris.
“How many nuke warheads does Russia have for every US city of >50K?”
But Russia has one big disadvantage regarding the US and Europe - their cities are still worth trying to keep from being blown up.
The trouble is, Mad Vlad has vowed to use his nukes if the Europeans are dumb enough to send their troops to Ukraine.
