Elon Musk joined Lara Trump on her show “My View” Saturday night on FOX News.
During their conversation, Elon revealed that the DOGE Team found 100,000 federal employees collected uninsurance benefits while they were still at work.
Collecting insurance benefits while still working is considered unemployment insurance fraud. Many states classify unemployment fraud as a misdemeanor or felony.
Jail time is a significant risk and can range from several months to several years.
Elon Musk says 100,000 government employees have committed this dishonest act.
Elon Musk: We’ve actually found there’s a lot of people who are federal government employees. They’re active employees who nonetheless applied for and have received unemployment insurance. While they’re federal employees? Yes. Wow. And this appears to be at least 100,000 people.

Elsewhere I’ve seen comments speculate that Team Musk is wildly incorrect or even lying about the numbers cited here.
No one here should give respect to such counter-comments that don’t include solid, evidentiary support.

The bureaucracy has the mindset that if they don’t spend the money, they’ll go broke. They don’t have time to see what it’s spent on because they’re too busy spending it.

Strange. Most states would require an employer to verify the UNEMPLOYMENT application but not the federal government? It was required in CA..EDD sent notices to employers that employers had to comply with - YAY or NAY! Employers pay the SUI set rate to CA not the employees...so they get the say!
That works out to about 100M a month, if they were only getting 1K a month in UE.

I'd think we're pretty close to a balanced budget, certainly for discretionary spending at minimum. There should be no concern about passing the big beautiful bill.

Demand repayment, with interest, due in 10 days, or 20 years in prison.
After the 10 days, charge all 100k of them with fraud, conspiracy to defraud the government, theft of taxpayer funds, whatever you can charge them with, whether they made restitution, or not.

By the way, no judge is going to be able to stop the firing of each and every one of these people, because every federal employee is required to obey the law, both federal and state law.
It is way past time for federal employees to be as fully subject to the law as the rest of the citizens of this country. They are supposed to be serving the Public, and have a very generous pension system, and lots of holidays and paid leave, so they have a pretty nice package when all things are considered. But these people aren’t serving the public, they are defrauding the public. They have not merely broken the law, they have abused the trust of the public, and have damaged the reputation of the federal government.(yeah, I know, that’s a pretty low bar to jump over) as a result of these actions.
Fire them all. Jail them all. Make them pay restitution!
