A former housing official recently made a shocking allegation that, if true, will prove the most wasteful and arguably sinister government expenditure of all.
Catherine Austin Fitts, who served as the assistant secretary of Housing and Urban Development for Housing between 1989 and 1990, appeared on former Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s podcast last Tuesday to claim that the United States government has spent a whopping $21 TRILLION over several years building an underground city for the wealthiest and most powerful in the country.
To help back up her allegation, the 74-year-old Fitts cited a report released by Michigan State University economist Mark Skidmore. The economist and their team said in their paper that they had uncovered $21 trillion in “unauthorized spending” in both the Department of Defense and Housing and Urban Development from 1998 to 2015.
Fitts told Tucker that money was used to develop an “underground base, city infrastructure, and transportation system” hidden from the entire country.
“We have built an extraordinary number of underground bases and, supposedly, transportation systems,” she said. “Some of these are documented as part of the national security infrastructure, but I think there are many more in the United States and all over the world.”
Fitts added that she and a team of investigators spent between 2021 and 2023 collecting “all the data and all the information on underground bases.” She estimated they had found roughly 170 in America and under the ocean around America.

Sure. We're supposed to believe that this was built starting in 1998 and that no one has ever mentioned a word about it since that time.
It has a "transportation system". What would that be like? A subway system connecting each of the 170 underground bases? A fleet of Segways all charged up?
So a country that can't build a practical train system that connects cities, has supposedly built an underground train system.
Who lives in this "underground city"? Do they come to the surface ever? Is the "underground city" empty and just sitting there waiting for a near-extinction event? That would cost an awful lot of money. Is this "underground city" self-sustaining? Does it produce food? (No sun -- no agriculture). So it's all set up and waiting but no one is in it.
All the wealthy and powerful people know about it but don't live in it. They know how to get into it and will rush to it before the world ends. There are secret entrances. The place is stocked with Remy Martin and caviar. The sommeliers are well trained and ready to leap into action when the world starts to end.

I’ve clicked into a couple of her videos. A lot of assertions about this and other kind of crazy sounding theories.
Maybe she is right. But I’d be cautious about repeating her thinking.

I was told former Nike missile bases have underground space large enough to turn around semi trucks.Such were designed for surviving nuclear attacks.
Perhaps $21 billion,not trillion,could have been spent post WW2.That could have been hidden off budget.
One of them is the mega dirty New York City subway system, which if built today would cost over $1 trillion. Though it underground-farms a large supply of rat meat, most elite would prefer death to trying to live in it.
