I used profanity a lot after I got out of the Navy.

At some point, I recognized that casual use of profanity is a sign of character weakness, intellectual weakness, or both, and have largely ditched it in my vocabulary.

I still slip up, but I try.

That said, in a professional capacity, I studiously avoid profanity.

Bingo, I hear the f word so often it makes me think people are just not bright enough to use any other, it sounds only vulgar. I occasionally use the French word merde but no one knows what I mean.

No sweat. You serve and you get a pass from me. But you’re smart enough to know there are better word choices. :-)
