Schumer is next to announce he won’t seek re-election in 2026. He has AOC breathing down his back and she wants to move up, meaning she will run for his seat. I suspect he knows this and will eventually make a deal to remain leader until he retires at the end of his term.

Schumer is not up for re-election until 2028.

AOC will have to decide to run for Schumer's seat or President. It would make more sense for her to run for senator, but hey, we're talking about AOC here.

I’m not following AOC because I’ve assumed she’s an outlier.

What are her positions on issues that are attracting attention?

Are people sure that Ocasio-Cortez would be a shoo-in for the Senate if she beats Schumer in the primary?

What if someone like Elise Stefanik chose to run on the Republican side? The race would come down to a Bronx Democrat radical against an upstate MAGA conservative. Given how close the Governor's race was with Lee Zeldin, might greater New Yorkers have had enough of the extreme left agenda by 2028 and choose Stefanik over Ocasio-Cortez?
