I have been watching Aussie Rules Footy seriously since 1967.
It astonishes me now just how much fun it can be to watch local football.
I cannot remember seeing more scintillating evasion of tackles in any code of football at any level than the play of number 68 for North Footscray in yesterday’s game against Wyndham Vale.
First of all a “Don’t Argue.” (the act of fending a player off with an outstretched arm) when not in possession of the ball. Then four blind turns in four seconds. 180 degrees clockwise. 90 degrees clockwise. 90 degrees clockwise again.. Then 90 degrees anticlockwise.
Is this the Fastest Freedom in World Sport

It doesn’t seem as if the term “fastest freedom” is defined for us who don’t know the game. What does that mean?
It looks like a bunch of guys running around before they decided what the actual rules of the game would be.

Thanks Douglas.
I am not sure if I can precisely define it or if I want to.
What I would ask you to do is look at the film clip in the original article to see if player number 68’s incredibly quick reactions look very fast to you.

Thanks Y Cox.
You are describing the game’s freedom.
When I was in Woomera I managed to go to Adelaide and see the Power. This was at the old Adelaide Oval.
I don’t remember who they played, I had a lot of West End Draughts, but very fun times, great game!
Remember watching footy in the early 80s on ESPN, when they actually cared about sports.
Became a fan of Carlton, and especially Bruce Doull, the Flying Doormat - very quietly did his job, no fuss, no wasted motion, just kept his man from getting the ball for four 30-minute quarters.
Used to watch it some back in the early days of ESPN - looked like Calvinball to me.
As I recall, none of them got past Summer Camp.
Bottom Line - very few white athletes are competitive against Black athletes for speed, agility, and power.
Around 80% of white NFL players are on the offensive line, quarterback, or tight end
