No, we’re already dead broke.

I see balkanization coming.

My new version of Canada’s national anthem:

“Woke Canada is going down the drain”

The author should note that the flip side of this is also true.

What exactly does the U.S. expect to gain by demanding lower trade barriers in a country whose GDP is smaller than some U.S. states?

Not understanding international trade is not good in national leaders. There are many countries with much wiser leaders. They noted the change after the election and made adjustments to their foreign trade with the USA.

“That may well work. Scott Presler tweeted from the front lines, “I’m going to be honest with you, even if you don’t want to hear it: Republicans have been losing special elections all over the country—even red districts in Iowa & Pennsylvania”

What is Trump administration going to do about federal elections anticipating upcoming vote fraud efforts by Dems in the midterms? Any EOs to stop illegals from voting, FEC actions, federal elections observers? Are the going to stop CA from counting votes after the election?

That’s the real kicker. Can any of these nations afford the loss that decreased exports will have at home?

My understanding is the entire thing is not about trade but rather is about Canada and Mexico's refusal to stop the flow of drugs and illegals into the US.

That was the public face put on the tariff implementation, but that sure as heck wasn't the real reason behind the tariffs.

Since when did Canada or Mexico have any obligations to secure OUR borders, anyway?

If rather than being a transit point, Canada and Mexico were the final destinations, might the two governments be taking different actions?

Perhaps. But the solution to a border crisis is to close (or at least strengthen) the border, not impose a tariff on crap that has nothing to do with fentanyl.

There wouldn’t be such a push of the drugs if we didn’t have a weak percentage of the populace who get addicted to such drugs. No one really focuses on that aspect. It’s the 800 pound gorilla no politician ever wants to talk about...I mean God forbid we push personal accountability and morality on every single person!

We could stop a lot of the drug flows by a concerted competition with the dealers and the cartels where all identified addicts are given legally authorised drugs for nothing and then forced over time...yes I said force them to undergo slow with drawal of the drugs and to undergo treatments and support. Or, they could be offered all the drugs they want but they would get no hospitalization or other special helps if they did not wish to stick with any treatment and reintegration programs. Just the drugs and nothing more then let God and nature take their course!

But American society and government would be giving the drugs not the illegal cartels or China. That would dry up their illegal income immediately.

We cannot tolerate and live with what Canada and Mexico are doing on our borders drug wise but we need to bring the addiction rates and drug uses down as a nation by making hard choices. The first step in stopping illegal drug dealing is to destroy the demand for the drugs and we need to be pugnacious about it in ways that Singapore is pugnatious about drugs and dealing drugs! Death Sentences? You bet! These dealers and cartels are killers!

These countries were not just allowing illegals and trafficking across our boarders, they were assisting it. You were much better off just commenting on your potpourri and top 40 threads, because you just make a fool of yourself on these adult threads.

Have the tariffs done anything to stop this?

Uh -- OK. I have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

I've said this for years.

"Make America Great Again" is a futile joke unless we are first willing to make Americans great again.

You're right, I got you confused with someone else. Still, you are talking nonsense. Give tariffs a chance.

Right now, Canada and US has the longest unguarded by military troops or fortifications in the world.

If Canada won’t co-operate, we can change that. It is in Canada’s interest long term not to make us mad.
