US Cong Thomas Massie raises the issue that US air
attacks in Yemen as an example of not putting America 1st...

Mmmmmm, yummy..... an-oth-er extremely astute, well-thought out, political strategy:
<><>US taxpayers supply all of Israel’s economic financing and tranches of armaments;
<><>we get to be involved in all their wars
<><>in return we get all their enemies and problems,
<><>future American generations get to inherit Israel’s enemies and their debts as well,
<><>while Israel gets to be a world leader.....unencumbered.

So brilliant.....could even catch on worldwide.

Iran and the rest of the mideast guys haven’t been especially kind to the US or its presidents. The Washington foreign policy establishment has an ingrained belief in its own brilliance and a willingness to succumb to hubris about the extent of its power and influence. The Middle East has a tried and true formula to get foreign aid tax dollars.....uttering the word “peace” at regular intervals.

“Peace” in the Middle East has been a pipe dream for about a thousand years........there’s a
huge price tag on “peace,” with the US taxpayer gamely trying to meet the latest “peace price.”

Netanyahu to Trump: “Can you top this?”
<><>During the 2024 election year, Biden blanketed Israel w/ $17.9 billion peace-keeping tax dollars in that one year alone, saying, “Nobody has done more for Israeli peace than I have.”

Besides peace-making weaponry, Israel also receives peace-keeping economic and humanitarian tax dollars in foreign aid, which supports broad peaceful economic development and socio-political stability and can include peaceable non-military support related to the country’s pressing peace needs.

Nice.

"Massie Interview: Houthi Strikes 'not America First'"-Responsible Statecraft

The controversial Signal interchange reveals that the terrorist activities against shipping by Houthi forces damages American commerce by 4% although it affects Europe's by 30%- so why are we bombing? Does our support for Israel have anything to do with it?

MAGA supporters manifestly base their support for or against Ukraine not on logic but solely upon a signal from Donald Trump. So far, Trump's logic has not caused him to take a similar stand against Israel that he has taken against Ukraine; quite the contrary, Trump is an enthusiastic supporter of Israel.

Why doesn't the logic Trump applies to Ukraine also apply to Israel? After all, Israel has been at war with its neighbors since the Old Testament, even longer than Ukraine. Israel's enemies have larger populations, more oil, much more geographical and material resources, so why do we risk war on behalf of a handful of Israelis against a hundred million Arabs and a billion Muslims?

These facts seem remarkably to parallel the relative disparity of forces aligned against Ukraine by Russia.

Our alliance with Israel has arguably caused us casualties in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and Lebanon in wars that Trump has decried.

Our beat down of Ukraine has estranged us from our allies in Europe to the point where many there actively fear and loathe America. We have sacrificed Europe to extricate ourselves from Ukraine. Yet we bomb the Houthis for the benefit of Europe? Or is it for the benefit of Israel?

What is the upside for the United States in this alliance? Do the Israelis have a huge economy? Do the Israelis have nearly half a billion people? Does the Israeli conflict have any reasonable prospect of real peace and reconciliation or is this thousand-year conflict likely to grind on forever?

Tellingly, the difference of American policy is not in the logic applied to these relationships, the difference is in the posture of Donald Trump, a posture that is repeated on these threads, usually word for word. Sadly, too many of us have forgotten we are conservatives only to become cultists.

The point of this is not to advocate abandoning Israel, but to question the logic of abandoning Ukraine. The plea is to shuck this litmus test based on personality and return to sound conservative principles.

The enemy of my enemy is my ally. They say you can’t kill all the Muslims that hate us , but you’ll never know unless you try. Israel is our aircraft carrier in the Middle East.

The enemy of my enemy is my ally.

What does that make Ukraine?

Israel is our aircraft carrier in the Middle East.

Why then did we scuttle NATO?

Bless your heart. MAGA is a movement that is against the entire power structure of the totalitarian left and you are going all yellow-bellied.

Actually, MAGA is a movement of the populist right.

The problem is your definition of, "totalitarian left." Does the left you despise include the people of Greenland? Of Denmark? Denmark is hardly a totalitarian state. Of the nations of NATO? These are hardly totalitarian even though both of us might prefer they were less socialist but they are hardly totalitarian.

When we together oppose Venezuela, Brazil, China, North Korea, we are certainly in accord because these are totalitarian and leftist. I have a problem, however, describing Putin's Russia as left, although certainly it is totalitarian. Likewise Iran is not left but a totalitarian theocracy. We seem to be ready to bomb Iraq (I believe with justification) but apparently we are eager to become bedfellows with Russia, which is problematic and seemingly naïve.

We are beyond any doubt, given our history with Ukraine, betraying that beleaguered nation for reasons that are not quite clear. We inveigled Ukraine into war and encouraged it to bleed and die. Now we turn on it for conducting the very war we instigated. What is Ukraine's sin, it is not totalitarian nor leftist? It's sin, it appears, is but to be in the way.

Certainly, Europe is not totalitarian enough, nor leftist enough, to warrant rupturing 70 years of relationships, including trade relationships. Nor are nearly a half billion Europeans so leftist or so totalitarian to justify destroying NATO.

Clearly, Russia is not populist enough nor free enough to warrant isolating ourselves from our defense alliances with the Western world just to cut a deal with Putin over Ukraine.

This is not a question of being "yellow-bellied" it is a matter of prudent foreign policy and preserving-if necessary reforming-a defense system that has succeeded almost flawlessly for 70 years.

Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

Saul Alinsky

The difference between you and Saul is that you are inept and pathetic at the technique of personal destruction.
