2021: Filibusters are evil and a hinderance to progress.
2025: Filibusters are a great way to stop the GOP agenda.
Both those sentiments sums up the wildly varying attitude of New York magazine columnist Ed Kilgore. Although he hated Senate filibusters in 2021 he now loves them as a way to slow down or halt Trump's legislative program. To get an idea of just how much Kilgore hated filibusters when the Democrats held the Senate, let us look look at his February 6, 2021 article, "What the Filibuster Has Cost America."

Trump and the gop should propose to get rid of the filibuster rule now just to get the dems to expose their hypocrisy further.
If it weren’t for double standa, some people wouldn’t have any standards at.
I think we all know how this works.
Democrats were in favor of getting rid of the filibuster when it would have helped their agenda.
Now that they are no longer in charge, now the criteria have changed. Now they see the filibuster as a useful legislative tool to impede Trump.
The opinions of the filibuster change , depending which party is in control of the White House and Congress.
No principles, only a “side”.
You act like Kilgore cares that he’s a hypocrite. He’s got the reverse Midas down pat: ex-New Republic, ex-Five Thirty Eight, ex-Progressive Policy Institute.
Also, keep it to honor the late Strom Thurmond and his fantastic 1957 solo filibuster lasting 24 hours and 18 minutes where he railed against cruel and unusual punishments while reading from the writings of Alexis de Tocqueville.
Because that’s what liberals do
There’s no hypocrisy here. The issue is never the issue; the issue is always the revolution. When filibusters aid the revolution, they are wonderful; when filibusters counter the revolution, they are horrible.
