Mark Carney won the Liberal leadership race in emphatic fashion on Sunday and an election call seems only days away.
This week on The Numbers, we dissect the results of the Liberal leadership contest and what the latest polls are saying about Carney’s chances against Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives. Plus, we take a look at some new provincial numbers out of Quebec and British Columbia.

The Liberals are going to want an election ASAP. They are riding “this ra ra Canada were going to stand up to mean Mr.Trump” crap for all it’s worth. It is working, The fact that it is working tells you why Canada seems doomed to be the world’s underachiever.
The Conservatives also have loads of money, and could use this to define Carney. Once the election is called, spending limits kick in.
Kim Campbell had a huge honeymoon bounce after taking over from Mulroney, but waited around too long and ended up with two seats. Part of her problem, however, was Reform, so the situations will not be parallel.
John Turner also had a lead, and blew it.
But in this case the Liberals just campaign on “Orange Man Bad”.
It’s like Democrats in California campaigning against Trump. The voters are liberal and politicians running against Trump will win.
Aw yes, Prime Minister Outhouse Tipper! I remember him well. Even HE had more personality than Marx Carney!
IF Polievre can get two debates each, in both French and English, Marx Carney is finished. Gerald Butts-head and the rest of the WEF/ChiCom crew guiding Marx Carney are not likely to let him even do ONE each, in English and French because he is SO ABSOLUTELY WOODEN!
If PDJT were to drop some of the intelligence the US has on Carney, it would likely go a long way to ‘easing Marx Carney into retirement’ back in Ireland! And I do wish Marx Carney a happy early retirement before he turns 60!
Doesn’t matter. Poilievre won’t deport a single Indian, the youth employment and housing problems won’t change.
