States issue TSA compliant IDs for under $40. A passport card costs $99.

Add another 100 bucks and get a paper passport as a companion piece.

I have no desire to fly. I don’t have a Real ID and shouldn’t need one. Why should I pay $200?

Many states issue IDs to illegal immigrants.

There are plenty of people who live on social security and don’t have to pay taxes, and you’re telling me they shouldn’t get to vote??? How dare you!

Yeah people posting articles need to start understanding that many people are not going to know either the person or who they are without a full name, and perhaps what they do if they are important in some fashion.

When I saw Walberg, my first thought was Mark Walberg

Only homeowners should vote. Otherwise, they have no skin in the game.

Jim Crow much?

People have posted who he is. He is a U.S. Congressman from Michigan. The post is regarding a local town hall type meeting where Walberg was answering questions. The takeaway is his answer regarding the SAVE Act.

Which isn’t right. Foreigners should have ID’s that designate them as foreigners.

Maybe looking at keywords would help. Also, people posted links to who he is. Yeah, I have been to to start in the middle of a conversation, thinking people knew what I was talking about. Sorry about that.

What if a person has no intention of going anywhere? I don’t. Why should I have to prove who I am as a 65 year old American citizen with a passport? Why do I have to drag out my birth certificate?

If the Senate passes this, they need to find free means of obtaining ID for peoples. I do not think Walberg gave a complete list. Military IDs would work.

If our congresspersons had stopped illegals voting 30-50 years ago we would not have this issue.

Adding: nor should illegals have drivers’ licenses.

At first I assumed we were talking about the actor Mark Walhberg.

I gather we are talking about voter ID requirements. I routinely show my driver’s license as an ID. However, some Democrat controlled areas have knowingly given driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. My social security number has been used all over the place for years. Have we given those away to foreigners too? I’ve read that Barack Hussein Obama’s social security number is bogus.

I’ve got my birth certificate somewhere. Utility bills are sometimes used to prove one is a resident. I don’t have a passport, and I don’t want to get one. After TSA and HHS made it onerous to fly, I stopped flying. I assumed a conservative like myself might be harassed as they waived Muslim men through. I never tried for the pre-approved list.

Democrats are claiming that Republicans are taking away a woman’s right to vote. I guess this has something to do with taking one’s husband’s name. I don’t know what slender element of truth they are using to tell a big lie.

People of good faith can find a way to prove that one is a citizen. Driver’s license and social security number are a good place to start. Maybe team Trump can give a good look at social security numbers. While they are at it, give extra scrutiny to Obama.

I agree. But the world has changed since we were children. Too many dark secrets and terrorist sympathizers roaming our streets. The Democrat Party thrives on voter fraud and illegal votes. I'm proud to have the documentation that I'm a 100% bona fide American.

Any recent driver's license has a small gold star on the front of it which proves you are a citizen. Non-citizens can get a license but they can't get the gold star.

That is what it sounded like Walberg, U.S. Congress-R, Michigan, wanted.

I will look for the bill’s summary and post somewhere.

I disagree that voting is a right... one should also be a land owner to vote. People who have a vested, material stake in the land mass of the usa and their state. too many NON PROPERTY owners in BIG BLUE ZONES have no material vestment in the land on which they walk, or state in which they live... and they vote accordingly. This is why we are paying for “cutmydickoffofme” spending in the USA and finances to do it all over the friggin planet.

no real estate. NO VOTE.
no foreign nationals should be able to own property here either like it is in many other nations.

Thought I posted my opinion. I am against the idea of using a passport. ID is absolutely necessary, but the way he stated it, it comes off as a poll tax. Republicans would disenfranchise the very people they added this year.
