Vice President J.D. Vance delivered his first major speech in Europe on Friday speaking at the Munich Security Conference in Germany.
During his speech VP Vance did not hold back – just like his boss! Vice President Vance lectured Europe on the continent’s moves to eradicate free speech and free expression in the formerly free societies.
Vice President Vance also spoke about ending the Ukraine-Russia War. J.d. Vance told the European crowd that there are certainly military tools and economic tools the West could use to pressure Vladimir Putin from reengaging Russian military operations in Ukraine.
The Wall Street Journal immediately took the Vice President’s comments to mean the US could hit Russia with military action if Putin does not agree to a peace deal.
It’s not clear where the WSJ concocted this headline. The report was so far from the truth that X slapped down a community note on the WSJ report.
JD Vance did not “pledge” “economic sanctions” or “military action”.
The transcript clearly shows he said “economic tools of leverage” and “military tools of leverage” exist, but that ultimately Trump “wants to have a productive conversation” with Putin and Zelensky.
Maria Gentry posted the actual transcript to show how far off the Wall Street Journal was with their splashy reporting.
Wow, the WSJ has fallen so far. This is sad. Traditional journalism is dead. Do they even teach it in school anymore?
This is what was actually said: “I think certainly — look, there, there are instruments of pressure, absolutely. And again, if you look at President Trump’s approach to this, the range of options is extremely broad,” Vance said. “And there are economic tools of leverage. There [are], of course, military tools of leverage.”
And, later Vice President Vance also responded to the Journal.
Vice President J.D. Vance: President Trump is the ultimate deal maker and will bring peace to the region by ending the war in Ukraine. As we’ve always said, American troops should never be put into harm’s way where it doesn’t advance American interests and security. This war is between Russia and Ukraine.
The neocons want their little war so bad...
🤔
I don’t care what he says. Anyone with any minimal vocabulary skills can see they are exactly the same concept and threat just worded differently. Now I am bothered that HE can’t even see that himself.
But the fact that he followed up with Trump as the lead in discussions about it redeems him anyhow.
Great. Now eject WSJ reporters from the White House press briefing room.
You have the earmarks of a true troll, marcus.
No shame.
Where’s Putin?
Where's your Special Russia Sock, your mom and Putin?
And what are all those banging noises upstairs?
>> Maybe they’ll learn the difference between Truth and mendacity, the difference between informing the public and propaganda.
That’s my prayer for them.
In the shower.
Missing out on breaking news.

The thread is about the WSJs slanting by headline which is exactly what you are doing.
No, it is not equivalency in a speech da
“The thread is about the WSJs slanting by headline which is exactly what you are doing.”
No I am not. I am making an honest unbiased evaluation of just the words of English themselves and what they were intended to represent. The vocabulary is extremely rudimentary and fourth grade level English. The phrases and intentions mean exactly the same thing... If you call it a Granny Smith instead of an Apple is it no longer an Apple?
Now they may have indeed taken it out of “context” because the WSJ is very good about pulling that kind of crooked dishonesty. But the phases do equal the same in plain simple English vocabulary.
Diplospeak, including speeches, is way more nuanced than you claim,
If you call it an Apple that doesn’t mean it is a Granny Smith.
