Fake News Falls Flat: WSJ Hit with Community Note After Completely Misrepresenting J.D. Vance’s Comments on Russia in Munich Speech – J.D. Weighs In!
Gateway Pundit ^ | Feb. 14, 2025 | Jim Hoft

Posted on 02/14/2025 9:45:24 AM PST by Kazan

Vice President J.D. Vance delivered his first major speech in Europe on Friday speaking at the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

During his speech VP Vance did not hold back – just like his boss! Vice President Vance lectured Europe on the continent’s moves to eradicate free speech and free expression in the formerly free societies.

Vice President Vance also spoke about ending the Ukraine-Russia War. J.d. Vance told the European crowd that there are certainly military tools and economic tools the West could use to pressure Vladimir Putin from reengaging Russian military operations in Ukraine.

The Wall Street Journal immediately took the Vice President’s comments to mean the US could hit Russia with military action if Putin does not agree to a peace deal.

It’s not clear where the WSJ concocted this headline. The report was so far from the truth that X slapped down a community note on the WSJ report.

JD Vance did not “pledge” “economic sanctions” or “military action”.

The transcript clearly shows he said “economic tools of leverage” and “military tools of leverage” exist, but that ultimately Trump “wants to have a productive conversation” with Putin and Zelensky.

Maria Gentry posted the actual transcript to show how far off the Wall Street Journal was with their splashy reporting.

Wow, the WSJ has fallen so far. This is sad. Traditional journalism is dead. Do they even teach it in school anymore?

This is what was actually said: “I think certainly — look, there, there are instruments of pressure, absolutely. And again, if you look at President Trump’s approach to this, the range of options is extremely broad,” Vance said. “And there are economic tools of leverage. There [are], of course, military tools of leverage.”

And, later Vice President Vance also responded to the Journal.

Vice President J.D. Vance: President Trump is the ultimate deal maker and will bring peace to the region by ending the war in Ukraine. As we’ve always said, American troops should never be put into harm’s way where it doesn’t advance American interests and security. This war is between Russia and Ukraine.

No surprise that WSJ would spread disinformation on this topic and Zeepers here would repeat it.

Vice President JD Vance is awesome. Smart, gifted, articulate, and certainly no pushover for anyone in the media.

Sometimes it just comes down to basic literacy skills, and the mindset so endemic in the Left that you can just choose how to perceive reality and express yourself accordingly and people must accept it, whether it is your gender or your opinion of geopolitics and war. But reality is not so easily dispensed with.

Vance slaps ‘em down just like Trump does. Maybe they’ll learn the difference between Truth and mendacity, the difference between informing the public and propaganda.

I watched JD’s speech to the conference and he said nothing even close to the interpretation fabricated by the WSJ. Indeed, his speeches in Paris and Munich were both thoughtful and respectful. He stated the US position eloquently, without malice, yet made it forcefully and perfectly clear what the US position is on both AI and Europe’s defense. I’ve never been more proud of a US Vice President.

“I’ve never been more proud of a US Vice President.”

I’m with you! Forget Russia, Kamala would have had us in a shooting war with the EU.

Vance should have gone on to say, “this is another perfect example as to why no one should read The Wall Street Journal.”

OK, I repeat. It has turned into a lib rag and I cancelled my 40+ years subscription back in the early 2000s.

Don't read it and don't miss it.

"Thankfully, the bravery of the Ukrainians and allies that came alongside them, especially early in the war, deterred and defeated Vladimir Putin from achieving what he wanted, which was all of Ukraine," Hegseth said. Asked whether Putin would be "emboldened" by a negotiated settlement that awards him large swaths of Ukrainian territory, Hegseth said the Russian leader is "going to declare victory no matter what," but that Putin had fallen far short of his initial military objectives.

Vance Wields Threat of Sanctions, Military Action to Push Putin Into Ukraine Deal

In interview with The Wall Street Journal, vice president says Ukraine must have ‘sovereign independence’

Vice President JD Vance said Thursday that the U.S. would hit Moscow with sanctions and potentially military action if Russian President Vladimir Putin won’t agree to a peace deal with Ukraine that guarantees Kyiv’s long-term independence.

Oh my goodness, you are so right about that. My own sister assailed me with "Tump's gonna make EVERYBODY become a Christian! He's Gonna make it the LAW!"

How do you even answer such an alternate reality?

If you think about it, JD saw more tribulation, mental anguish, heartache and upset in his life than most of us, and that was even before he needed to shave, and came through all of it.

There’s really nothing that will phase this guy.

Brilliant choice by President Trump.

“economic tools of leverage” = Sanctions.

and

“military tools of leverage” = Military Action.

Hate to say it, but they ARE the exact same concepts and threats even if worded differently.

What DID indeed redeem him was that he also stated that Trump would be doing the talking. He absolutely redeemed himself with that follow up.
